OK, this isn't what you necessarily think SVG will do, but rather, what you would do as an armchair...er...point guard? Anyway, just put the lineup together that you think does the best, starting. Center - Tony Battie. Truthfully, the center and power forward positions are pretty interchangeable with our guys, so you could insert Dwight here without a problem. Battie is the guy that I see taking on most of the centers, since power forwards tend to be the more prolific scorers in the Eastern Conference. Anyway, Battie is a starter, and a solid guy there. He won't give you a double double consistently, but he works hard in the low blocks and fouls whenever it's needed. With the addition of Adonal Foyle and the emergence of Marcin Gortat, there's decent depth. Battie's the most polished of those guys, and he should contribute well. Power Forward - Dwight Howard. I'm still not sure about his all-around offensive game, since we really haven't seen him add a consistent jumper to his forte. But he did develop a better grasp of his "baby hook" last year and definitely improved in creating his own shots in the paint. His decision-making has to improve, as he led the league in turnovers. Behind him you have Gortat and Augustine, although I expect to see Turkoglu fill in here as well. We also know that if the Reggie Evans trade goes through (by no means a given), there will be added depth at the 4. Small Forward - Rashard Lewis. He'll probably be the most scrutinized guy since Grant Hill, and rightfully so. Shard has to prove that he is worth the bank that Orlando bid on him. He's probably got the most upside offensively of any player we've had since Tracy McGrady. That said, I think most people in the Orlando front office believe that Lewis is the final piece the Magic need for the goal of going deep into the playoffs. I expect him to lead the team in scoring, and I also expect his rebounding and defensive numbers to improve in a much weaker Eastern Conference. Behind him you have Turkoglu, who can come close to matching him in scoring, and in some instances, Trevor Ariza, who brings a much better defensive game. Shooting Guard - Trevor Ariza. In the meantime, at least. He's more naturally a forward than a guard, but his strengths are in his defensive game, and not the offensive end. He's got the speed to hang with most 2s, and I think that will get him in there initially. His defensive ability will be a good complement to the scorers we have in Shard, Dwight, and Jameer. J.J. Redick is a guy that maybe SHOULD be starting by his third season as a lotto pick, but Redick will be best served coming off the bench, in my opinion. Other than Redick, you could add Keyon Dooling (unless he's traded) as a good option here. Keith Bogans adds experienced depth, but other than that, just a warm body. Point Guard - Jameer Nelson. He should be sending thank-you cards to Rashard Lewis, because now, the pressure is off of Nelson. Had the Magic not been able to reel in the crown jewel of free agency, Nelson would have felt the pressure this season. He still very well might. He was supposed to make his move the the "next level", and failed last season. If he does indeed do this (and he might, with better options around him offensively) then we could find ourselves with a very special team before us. If not, the Magic are going to find themselves in a precarious situation in the next couple offseasons in trying to find a quarterback for their offense. After Jameer comes Carlos Arroyo, a player that is either loved or hated by the fanbase, depending on who you speak with. I personally think Arroyo is a good player, and I am quite happy having him come off the bench. Dooling is pretty much our last option at the 1, and he gives us perhaps the most balanced player at that position. So, after that novel, here's my lineup. C - Battie/Howard/Foyle/Gortat PF - Howard/Battie/Turkoglu/Gortat/Augustine SF - Lewis/Turkoglu/Ariza/Dooling(?) SG - Ariza/Redick/Dooling/Bogans PG - Nelson/Arroyo/Dooling Compare and contrast |

Really? Foyle over Battie? Hmm. I mean, I guess it would be a small change, and using my own logic, it wouldn't be a horrible change. Still gives us a defensive-minded guy in the paint. |

No way. Foyle isnt that good. Hes a backup and hes gonna be a backup to Battie you watch. I think the best starting SL is: Dwight Battie Lewis Turk Nelson Gives us a good two big man show. Then Lewis and Turk give us great perimeter shooting and floor spreading for Dwight. And i really think Nelson will have a better year this time around, last year was just a fluke. Watch his assist numbers go up this year since he has another target to pass too and he will have the ball more with Grant gone. Edit: And by no means is this any knock on Ariza's game. No way, hes my boy and all and i love his game. And i bet sometime in the season you just might see him starting. But for now i think hes best off the bench with his offense and defensive game providing a spark for us. |

Yeah I think Ariza's game is too raw to be astarter. Although he has shown improvment on the offensive end. I like Turk starting b/c you can really throw some miss matches at teams. SVG is going to do a good job of getting this team to play team defense, b/c we don't have alot of one on one defenders. Hopefully, that will offset our weak man to man defense. I'm still on the fence about Dooling starting, I'm not sure if he brings enough to be a starter. I think we have so many guys that can contribute that everyone is going to have a chance to play. Anyway, IMO Foyle is going to come off the bench behind Battie. |

Well this thread says who you would want to start, not who will start. I think Foyle should start over Battie. Foyle might be nothing, but is Battie?? I mean at least Foyle is an above-average shot-blocker. Also, I think we need to start Ariza because if we have a Nelson/Turkoglu/Lewis combo out there teams will definitely own us on the defensive side. Ariza should start at least because of his defense. |

That was my thinking in starting Ariza at the 2. We'll need some defense out there. I think Turk is pretty underrated defensively, personally, but he's still a scrub defensively compared to Ariza. Meanwhile, the Battie-Foyle debate is kind of fun. I think Battie is much more polished offensively and isn't too far behind on the defensive end. I think that outweighs Foyle's good defense. |

Not only do we need defense out there, it certainly wouldn't hurt to save some offense for the bench. |

^This is the versatility I'm talking about. We can go big or small. We can spread the offense out so guys off the bench can contribute. All good points |

I agree with Battie, Dwight, Lewis, Turk, Nelson. I would hope Ariza can possibly become a starter by seasons end, but right now he is just not ready to start. |

I Like Falcon's lineup simply because Foyle is on a little better than Battie on "D" but from 2 guard to PF theres lots of talent. And that is hard to beat! |

Redick SF Rashard Lewis/ Keith Bogans PF Hedo Turkoglu/ Pat Garrity C Dwight Howard/ Tony Battie They dont have Foyle in there but i think they should move Battie to backup PF and Foyle to backup C. |

How can that be a complete depth chart if only 10 guys are on it? I don't think Trevor is going to start.
