I hope Foyle turns out o.k. for us. He really wasn't doing too well for the Warriors lately, so I'm really not expecting much right now.

Hopefully a change of scenery will do him some good, but if nothing else at least we got a cheap big man who might make a couple of defensive plays here and there and give Howard a breather.

Of course he is or he wouldnt get a contract. He has to pass a team physical to get on the team anyways.

Plus, we have a couple months till preseason so he can get his butt in shape if he isnt already.

It is official now. Feel alot better now, do not want to rely on Auggie or Marcin.

Very cool. Amongst the candidates (including Johnson who just signed with the Heat) I like Foyle's fit on our team the best. With such a young team we NEEEEEEEEDED a vet who could be counted on, especially with Gortat learning this season.

I'm curious to see if we can drudge anything else out of the bargain bin this offseason. I'm much happier with our team heading into the season now.

IT is OFFICIAL

The Orlando Magic announced today that they have signed free agent center Adonal Foyle.

At 6 feet 10 and 270 pounds, Foyle is expected back up Dwight Howard and Tony Battie at center and power forward and help fill the void defensively left by the departure of Darko Mililic.

"Adonal is a solid shot blocker and post defender," Magic General Manager Otis Smith said in a statement released by the team. "His presence helps fortify our frontcourt while brining us veteran leadership

I thought the Gortat deal was supposed to be finished as well. Anyone know when the team will announce it?

Well i posted a report where Gortat signed a proposed deal with the Magic and it was also reporting that the Magic will announce his deal in the coming week or so. So my guess is that they are just hammering out the buyout from his former team.

Maybe I'm just drinking the Kool-Aid, but the more I read about this deal, the more I am liking it. What we got from Darko was defense and rebounding, with his offensive game being inconsistent. Here we get defense, rebounding, and a consistent lack of offense. So at least we know what we're getting.

The addition of Foyle gives the Magic 13 players under contract for this season. The 14th soon will become rookie center Marcin Gortat of Poland, who played the past two seasons in Europe after he was drafted in the second round in 2005. Although Gortat has agreed to contract terms, the Magic still are awaiting more paperwork.

Actually Darko really didn't give us much in terms of rebounds considering his size IMO. What did he give us? about 5 per. I think we'll miss some aspects of Darko's game. I know he was inconsistant offensively but teams still had to respect his ability. I just think with the addition of lewis, and now with Foyle we can make up for what Darko brought. I also see Marcin being huge for us. I know he's a rookie but those blue collar hustle players always help.

I do wish we could have had Darko for another year, but as it is, I think Foyle is a very respectable replacement and overall this offseason:

Coach Hill, Grant Hill, Darko, Bo Outlaw <<<<<<<<< Coach Van Gundy, Rashard, Foyle, Gorat
