NOTE FROM THE FORUM OWNER:

We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. Orlando Sentinel -
The Orlando Magic may have set their sights on veteran center Adonal Foyle, who became a free agent Monday when he accepted a contractual buyout from the Golden State Warriors .

Foyle, 32, is an experienced center/forward who could fill the void -- at least defensively -- that was created when Darko Milicic left as a free agent for the Memphis Grizzlies .

The Magic have been talking to the agents of several potential front-court players, but they had been waiting to see what other veterans became available.

If we were just getting him normally I would say hell no. His contract is just bezerk (it's the one we avoided when the Warriors signed him).

-buuuuuuut, since the Warriors bought him out, essentially leaving him free to play for table scraps (what we have) I say he would be a good addition. He would add to our big man depth, is a good defender, and is a veteran to have admidst our young big men.

I have a feeling we just found our answer at backup C unless Boston swipes him up.

Drafting Marbury + Foyle = Championship. \o/
Bottom line is: for the vet minimum it wouldn't hurt at all to sign him.
Low risk... and who knows: some reward.

I'm really not that big on this move. He showed up overweight last year, and just doesn't seem committed to his career. If he was having issues while making millions of dollars, I doubt they're going to magically disappear when playing for "table scraps".

I don't hate the move but I do question it.

Could work out well in the end...maybe it could be a wake-up call for the guy while he still has a few decent years left. The ultimate question is this: Is he an upgrade over Gortat or Augustine? I think, based on experience, the answer is yes, though not emphatically. This would be a depth move, plain and simple. And from that perspective, I could live with it.

I'd do it. He's not going to push us over the top, but he'll add depth and experience.

Low-risk, average reward. Right? He's not an awful player.

The worst thing that could happen would be he ends up like Garrity (play 10 minutes, rest 2 weeks). For the amount we would be paying him, even that wouldn't be the end of the world.

I've been thinking about it, and besides Webber, there aren't many good big men options available in our price range. So, Foyle isn't so bad...considering we don't have many options.

Thing is, I think he might play 15-20 minutes fairly consistently. He'd be higher on the pecking order than Augustine, anyway.

I completely agree. I think he could be a serviceable player for us night in and night out. Even if he didn't, though, it certainly wouldn't ruin us.

I say go for it.

We need a few big men, getting him at the league min. would not be a risk. I say getting him and making the trade with Denver should improve our big men rotation.

One of the smartest men in the league, a true class act. If he can't help physically he can at least teach our young bigs the ropes.

For the vet. minimum Adonal would be a steal if he has anything left in the tank. :)
