With Garnet trade more and more teams are getting better. I have a feeling that Magic will get 7th or 8th spot and sneak in. |

As I spin around the Magic world I really have to wonder where some of this stuff comes from. Write this down.... The Magic goal for 2007-2008 should be WINNING the Southeast. With that will come at least a 4 seed and probably better.... Miami is slipping, old, its best player is coming off injury, it second best player really cannot be expected to play more then 50 games, has little depth, and really is my pick to slide in the NBA next season. Washington is deeply flawed, they can score, cannot defend, Agent Zero is a flake (and coming off injury) has proven it cannot win without its 3 core guys (remember late last year)...a .500 or so team that may find .500 harder to achive with the improvements of teams like Boston. Charlotte is still a ways away, Atlanta is well....Atlanta. 50 wins and the division title should be the goal...SVG improved the Heat by double digits (17 wins each season) in his first two years (first without Shaq). Improving Orlando by 10 is really not a heavy expectation. This team was undercoached last year and really under achieved. Here is how I see it.....2008 Playoff teams. The top 6 Boston-Wins Atlantic (if KG is traded to them) Chicago-wins Central Orlando-Wins Southeast Detroit Cleveland Toronto The bubble Miami Washington New Jersey (I fully expect to see a housecleaning, Kidd gone mid season, Jefferson soon after. This team needs to rebuild in time for its move to Brooklyn. VC will become the new Paul Pierce, no help on a hapless team) New York You cannot convince me that Orlando is not better than the 4 bubble teams. |

i wish i was wrong but... Miami has a player that makes other much better (we don't ) and it should be back to full health. Taking division title won't be easy. and if we don't win the division we are down to 4th place. New Jersey should be healthy again, with Krstic recovering. Cleveland and Toronto are going to get only better... |

I beg to differ.... New Jersey adds Kristic (ohhh....the fear he puts into teams)....subtracts a very servicable Mikki Moore. Perhaps a slight improvement, hardly a major step forward. They should have a reasonably healthy Jefferson, but VC is primed to underperform now that he is out of his contract year and Kidd will be the center of speculation if the Nets falter (which they will). Rod Thorn evens knows this is a train wreck waiting to happen, he kept the core together because the East is weak, once it is proved they cannot really contend they will be torn apart. Cleveland....nice playoff run for a 1 man team. Tell me where Cleveland improved itself? they need to grab Bibby but have such a bare talent cupboard (outside of LaBron) that adding that piece will create another hole (i.e.Gooden). Middle of the pack in the east, hoping lightening strikes again in the playoffs. Toronto is probably the best run franchise in the East at the moment, they will improve. Miami....years from now this team will be looked at with wonder and respect, and the question will be asked "how the hell did they win an NBA title." They are the 1975 Golden State Warriors of their time. Shaq will be "rested" with an eye to the playoffs, Wade will be "babied" with an eye to the playoffs. Oh...yeah...they added Smush Parker (I still bristle at his huge game vs the Magic....but that was vintage and rarley seen Smush) so I guess another title is assured (not), lost Kopono, have the always unselfish and seldom productive Walker, the gutsy (yet aging) Zo, no real depth. I do like Haslem but get real does this team really look anything but very old and very vulnerable? |

I think the Magic will win the Southeast next year so long as neither Miami or Washington add someone substantial before the season starts. This is all I can really muster for a post since I am dumbfounded by the Constantine Maroulis advertisement above. Truly a legend, that one.

With a season with minimal injury problems, the Magic will be a five seed at worst. I'm also amazed how so many of the talking heads have Boston being a title contender, yet Orlando is dead in the water after acquiring Shard. |

If the Magic were able to get into the playoffs last season without Rashard Lewis, I think they should be a lock for the playoffs with him. He will be(or should be) a consistent scorer for Orlando, so he will propel the Magic to victory in games where last season, their offense was nowhere to be found in the final minutes. |

Don't forget now we have a competent coach as well. Another huge difference. If we don't win the division, it will be a disappointment. If we are lower than a 6 seed, it will be a HUGE disappointment. |

SI's verdict is in and they say we'll be the 9th best team. Blah. Seems like they just cut and pasted last year's records and tossed Boston in. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writ...ings/index.html |

How can the Bobcats be clueless defensively when they have two of the game's best defenders? I'm not ready to call the Magic a playoff lock, nor am I ready to write them off. I think they're a solid team that is much-improved -- at least on paper. There's just so many middle-of-the-road teams in the East that it's hard to pick which ones will make the cut and which ones won't. The playoffs are 8 months anyway and we're already making predictions.

Playoffs or not, I think it's a bad sign when we pay a guy $120+ million dollars and still might not make the postseason. I know, I know, we had to overpay for him. That's not the point. It just sucks that we were a playoff team last year, threw a lot of money at a player, and now might not even make the playoffs because so many other teams around us got better. |

ESPN is going to ride bostons schlong b/c of the names on that team fine. As fans we know that we've seen these situations fail before most recently the Mavs with Antoine Jameson and Walker,Dirk,Terry Stack. Whats their excuse for that team. |

The magic will end up with the 8 seed or the 9th I don't see how they could do better, other then Orlando magic Forums this is the same feeling on most websites. The magic are basically the same team from last year for the simple fact that the Lewis deal has been offset by the lost of Darko and Hill. Not trying to be rude Brutalfacts but you just listted the negtives of every team that made the playoffs infront of the magic just to make Orlando look better, lol. But let me list the postives. NJ: The team was set back by injures to many key players last season and still managed to make the playoffs. With good health to their big 3, NK, and newly signed Jamal magorie i don't see how they don't make the playoffs. Miami: As with NJ, miami had injuries to both star players and still managed to make the playoffs. With an healthy Wade and a shaq, who still at his age needs to be doubled on a nightly basics, i don't see how this team does not make the playoff with out major injuries. Was: Washington hits me as a team that will make the playoffs every year but will never get past the 2nd round. If they don't find more piece to put around their 3 of Caron, Jamison, and Areans this tend will cont. But as long as they have Agent 0 and the 2 others they will always be in the playoffs. And a player to watch next season is their eurpean center they picked up in the draft to seasons ago, played pretty good in the summer league lets see if that conts during the season. Cleveland: Cleveland will make the playoffs because Lebron will carry them there. When he is on the floor he has the fire and passion like a Kobe or MJ, something I wish Dwight had more of. The only way they don't make the playoffs is if Lebron goes down. Tor: Tor seems to me like a team that really over achevied last season. They do have some great young talent but i still think they are a few years away, this is the team i think the Magic will be fighting for the eight seed. Now lets talk about the magic. They made a great move to get lewis but made an awful move of overpaying him, making it nealy impossible to improve this year and even in the future. I loved getting lewis but paying a guy who could do little else but score is crazy. What makes it worst is that the magic lost 2 good defenders and potenial starters in Hill and Darko and gained lewis who is said to be a non factor on D. And with the lost of both Darko and Hill this leaves 2 holes in the starting lineup and little to no big men deapth The only Good thing that happend during the magic offseason was Stan Van Gandy. A very good coach for a very young team but could he fill the missing pieces is the question. But at the end of the season this is how I see the standings: 1.Boston 2.Chicago 3.Washington 4.Detroit 5.Cleveland 6.Miami 7.NJ 8.Tor 9.Orlando |

Did Darko do enough to "offset" this team upon departure? I dont think Darko and HIll leaving has hindered us. Considering that Shard avg more PPG than both those guys put together, and is expected to score more as our main offensive weapon unless Dwight blows up of course. We may miss Darko a little but it's not going to keep us from being a playoff team. |
