Though the Pacers haven't confirmed the deal, The Indianapolis Star reported the agreement with Diener, who averaged 3.8 points and 1.0 assists in 49 games with the Magic the past two seasons. A 6-1, 175-pound sharpshooter who paired with Dwyane Wade to lead Marquette to the NCAA Final Four in 2003, Diener should get the chance to establish himself as a legitimate NBA backup with the Pacers.

We know he can shoot: fully 72 percent of his shots (107 of 149) have come from the 3-point line, and he's hit 40.2 percent.

The deal has been confirmed:

Yeah, it's a sad day for a Dienerholic like myself. :(

But, I am very excited for Travis because it looks like he's going to get regular playing time in Indiana. They signed him to a 3-year deal, so they're obviously interested in what he can provide.

I'm happy for the guy. Thanks for the memories, Travis.

Thanks, but no it doesn't help. In his and your wildest dreams he will never be a legend. A nice guy, but far from legend status, man. Unless of course, this is sarcasm that I failed to notice.

Don't get me wrong, MM. I liked him, and the boy can shoot like nobody's business, for sure. I just wouldn't consider him a "legend".

I think he's a legend in the same way Pat Burke is in Phoenix. For the record, Burke hates it.

It's a mix of sarcasm and realism. It's different for everyone.

Me, personally, I really do like Diener a lot. Maybe it was the fact that we're both the same age, maybe it's the fact that he was an underdog, I don't know. I just really appreciated his hustle, his ability to knock down 3's, and the way our offense seemed to become livelier whenever he entered the game. For some people it was a joke, but over time I did come to consider him my favorite player on the team.

For whatever reasons, a bunch of us jumped on the Diener bandwagon over a year and a half ago at RealGM, and it got crazy from there. I'm proud to have been part of the ride. ;)

It's different. For the most part, those of us who were truely on the bandwagon really did like him a lot and appreciated the niche role at PG that he gave us. He had a real, live cult following - at least on that particular board.

Yes, over time outsiders and other Magic fans either didn't "get it" or thought they did and tried to make bizarre jokes and what not, but in the middle of it all were the true Diener fans.
