can somebody remind me why we gave Lewis 6 years instead of 5? Why did we outbid ourselves and run out of money to sign Darko?

Problem is right there, it does not matter who we sign now. They are either old or not good at all

simple gilepile Rashard Lewis is a much better player than Darko is & Darko shows no improvement at all so I do not feel bad that he is gone.Deadwood as far as I'm Concered. ec23456

I still don't really understand why we outbid ourselves on Rashard Lewis...or did we?

There doesn't seem to be an answer out there right now, just speculation.

The Orlando Magic signed rookie center/forward Marcin Gortat on Monday, giving them 14 players under contract for this season.

Gortat, 23, originally was a second-round pick of the Phoenix Suns in 2005. The Magic acquired his draft rights the same night for cash considerations.

Gortat (6 feet 11, 240 pounds) has played the past three seasons with RheinEnergie Koln in Germany's Bundesliga I league. He averaged 10.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocked shots.

No, we absolutely bid against ourselves. No one else could have offered him more than $12-$14 million a season.

We may have been better off with Darko and Gerald Wallace. We'll never know, though.

Is there an answer as to why we outbid ourselves though?

I just don't really understand why exactly we did what we did...

Rocks blocking shots on guys with dreadlocks
i think rashards agent pulled off the whole other teams are ready to do a S&T and give rashard the real big money contract and otis not wanting another billy donovan to happen went ahead and bent over for rashard even if he knew it was a really bad bluff he probably still didnt want to leave anything to chance, if the donovan situation never happened and we got SVG off the bat then I dont think we pay rashard an absurd amount of money like that, i think we just give him the 85 mill and call the bluff

I can't think of any reason why we spent what we did. Only Otis knows for sure. <_<

Not a bad mix. Definitely not the most spectacular highlights, but at least he seems to be all hustle. Glad to see him on our team finally.

Cato is in his what mid to late 20's? If so he's still young and has a few NBA Seasons left in him.Sim for his size and shot blocking ability alone!

I really don't want Cato back. I liked him when he first came over, but later after he came back from injuries he appeared dis-interested and lazy out on the court.

He has only played 45 games in the past three seasons so I really doubt he could be reliable or consistent.

Yeah I like our front line. Dwight Battie, Gortat, Foyle. Shot blocking more than anything. But thats all we really need.. IMO we aren;t going to get offense from most of these guys with the exception of Dwight and sometimes battie.

I agree. I think we have some real good big men. I especially love the addition of Gortat. Some are not as high on him as i am, but i really believe he can make a solid contribution. I know he will be a high energy guy on defense which we really need. And he is very quick and can get out on the break, get a pass for a dunk, or even hit a jump shot. I am VERY eager to see him in a game situation.
