Jake Voskuhl has agreed to terms with the Bucks.
Does that make Brian Skinner available? And how sad is it that we're worrying about Brian freaking SKINNER's availability?

Honestly, Skinner isn't a bad player in the least. Every team needs a guy like him. Someone willing to do dirty work. He's probably one of the only bigs available that will give us better production than Gortat or Augie. But yeah, it is kind of sad.

bring in Cato, this guy is the meanest of the bunch. I bet in a fight he beat any of those other dudes. Cato can get fired up.

Agree, I prefer Cato too. Cato played well under Clifford Ray, plus we know what to expect out of him. We need a quality cheap big man, who can rebound, block shots and play defense.

Cato? I dunno. I think we can do better than that. I wasn't that big of a fan of him while he was here as he was pretty ineffective in stretches. Seemed to take nights off in the effort department.

I liked Cato's energy. If he gets involved early in the game, he seems to be more effective. All he needs is a block or an "oop" and he'll be good.

I wouldnt mind Cato coming back. The only thing is you dont know what to expect from him each night. One night he could come up with some big blocks and energize the team and other nights he wont be heard from at all.

Before Cato was making $8 million a year, now he will be making the league min. which is about $1.5 million. If signed he will probably play about 15-20 minutes a game, backing up Battie and Dwight. Right now I am not comfortable with Auggie and the Poland Guy as our big guys. I do not think Mark Bryant was a good big man. Clifford Ray had the Big Men at one time leading the league in rebounding. I think we finished in the top 10 that year. Cato will probably respond better to Patrick Ewing.

Right now, the minutes will be there for Cato to prove his worth. His shoulder should be healed now. Cato did rush back to try help the Magic make the playoffs that year until the Doug Christie Trade sent the Magic into a tailspin.

I will welcome him back as a reserve at the league min.

The Brown signing seems very likely now, and again it might be a decent signing, but the fact that Smith is seemingly banking on players who can be found at the head of the line at early bird specials means that things didn’t go according to plan this off-season. Smith obviously was banking on re-signing Darko Milicic, but that went awry. Whether it was Smith’s fault or Darko’s agent, Mark Corenstein’s fault for him not returning to Orlando, Smith was relying on bringing back Milicic, and him trying to coax aging veteran out of retirement proves that Orlando is no longer on Plan-A.

The Magic’s desperate attempt to bring in a big man also shows that a trade is very unlikely. Think about it; would the Magic be looking at an aging Brown as their number one option after Darko, or be trying to persuade players out of retirement if they were getting good trade offers? Perhaps the expiring contracts of Carlos Arroyo, Pat Garrity and Keyon Dooling aren’t as attractive as many originally thought. While names like Kwame Brown, Stromile Swift and others have popped up, there haven’t been any consistent or strong rumors in regards to Orlando bringing in a starting forward or center.

I want to know where he's hearing that signing PJ Brown is "very likely".

can somebody remind me why we gave Lewis 6 years instead of 5? Why did we outbid ourselves and run out of money to sign Darko?

Problem is right there, it does not matter who we sign now. They are either old or not good at all

Otis said on the radio that he wanted Dwight and 'Shard to come off the books at the same time. There's no chance that the Magic won't offer Dwight an extension before his contract expires, so I don't see the point. I think it might have something to do with that year's free-agent class. For some reason, I recall reading that Oden, Durant, etc. will be free-agents that summer if they don't re-sign with their teams.

Whatever. It's a silly move and there isn't any real justification for it.

The guy who wrote that article looks like he is really young. I don't know if I trust him to know anything about PJ over people like Schmitz and Denton.

The legal age for believability is 18, so you are okay. The guy in the mvn article photo is no older than 13 years old. :D
