We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. I think Otis Smith just f**ked up this franchise big time. |

Oh...my...god...we might be paying this one time all-star $120 million?!?! What is going on? I'm sorry, but this is getting out of hand. 5years/75mil was already bad, but this is just too much. How do we sign Howard next year? Where does the money come from? Did Otis all of a sudden become the next Isiah Thomas of GMs? |

Let's not jump to conclusions....there's still an hour to figure all of this out. |

Yeah, the deal isn't official yet. I'm just saying that if it goes down the way it might go down, then I'm not going to be too happy.

Nor will most of us. My guess is that either Otis figures he'll get better options by trading some of the expiring contracts to other teams or he truly is completely lost. I was so excited about today, and now I am on pins and needles for the next 30 minutes. The thought of dealing some guys away, getting Earl Watson thrown in for good measure, and having the money to bring in another big (Darko or otherwise) had me SO stoked. Now this. It's spiraling downward, but it's not here yet. Still, let's say the worst happens. Starting Five: Dwight - Best big in the East right now. I can live with it. Battie - Plays hard. Only other experienced big. Shard - Love his talent, and his ability to attack the rim. Gives us a scorer. JJ - It's time to see what he is worth. He'll either be like Reggie Miller or Steve Kerr. I hope it leans more toward the former. Jameer - I love his ability, but he has to learn how to better defend bigger PGs. I think he'll flourish with a more polished scorer in the lineup. Starters....I'm OK Bench Hedo - I think he can be a phenomenal sixth man. Come in when the front five are having trouble and light a fire. Ariza - who doesn't love this guy? Great defense and energy. Dooling - He's a tweener, which can be problematic. But he plays good defense, and when he's hot he is trouble for the other team Arroyo - A good floor leader that can possibly flourish in a new system. Plays with his heart on his sleeve. Can be an offensive juggernaut when his shot is on. Bogans - He's decent at most things, but not great at any one thing. Provides experienced depth. Diener - I'm not a huge fan of his, but that's mainly because right now I'd have him at 4th in the PG rotation. And with some moves possibly coming up with Arroyo and Dooling involved, it seems like a bad sign that Orlando is already talking with a foreign PG. Garrity - I can still remember attending a game years back when Pat was money from beyond the arc. Those days are gone. He's a stiff. Outlaw - I refuse to say anything bad about a guy that has been so long one of my favorites due to how hard he hustles. But he's probably gone, and doesn't answer any questions that are there for the Magic. Augustine - I'm interested to see if he can be a big that just hustles. I don't have a lot of confidence he would be able to do much else, but if he can do that, he fills a need. Rakovic - I get the feeling he isn't ready. But then I've never seen him play. Gortat (?) - I like his speed and potential. He might end up being the crucial offseason acquisition if he can provide a boost off the bench. |

After that analysis, I get the feeling we're a team that has nine everyday players. The problem is that we have no real backups that I can smile about after Dwight and Tony. |

I see it this way: With Jameer+JJ+Shard our defense is near 0. Battie as a starter in a team that wants to win championships? LOL! We have some huge holes in the roster and if the deal for Rashard is a maximum one, then we have no way to fill them other than trades... And honestly, what can we get from Pat Garrity and Arroyo? Nothing valuable. |

orlandomagic.com is reporting the deal to be, in fact, finalized. So we just spent a boatload of money on the guy. I can dig it. He's supposed to be a crucial piece to putting this team over the top. I can dig that, too. He, Dwight, and Jameer are going to be the faces of this team. I continue digging it. If no deals are made to jettison some of our expiring contracts...well, what now? Is Otis that certain of Marcin Gortat? Are we rolling the dice and making J.J. Redick our starter (I love JJ so don't take that the wrong way)? Is this IT? It's like I'm watching Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace all over again. All of this hype....and just Shard. I'm glad he's here. But I thought we were going to shake up the roster more than this.

For Pat? Probably nothing. For Carlos and Keyon? Probably something for a team in need of some backcourt depth. Don't kid yourselves, those two guys have ability. |

We need to hang on to Arroyo and Dooling, IMO. I think Dooling will end up starting at the 2 personally. He seemed to thrive under SVG and is our best defensive option at any guard spot. I know he's not to this level, but remember Bruce Bowen was a starter on a championship team. And as far as Redick goes, I'd really hope he can turn into "just" Steve Kerr. If he could do that, he would be a huge help. |

Man wtf is going on? Is Otis smocking something, or has he gone completely crazy? This is a bad move that will hurt us down the line. No man alive deserves to be paid such money. I pray to God that there are more trades after this one. |

Why did we give the Sonics a 2nd rounder? It doesn't save us money. |

My goodness calm down guys. The world is not coming to an end. The offseason is not over and next season hasnt started yet. Of course there will be other moves so lets just wait and see. But for now, at least we added another scorer to go along with Dwight which was the #1 goal this offseason. We did that, and paid alot of money for it, so he better turn into T-Mac 2.0 (like t-mac who got better after arriving in orlando) |
