NOTE FROM THE FORUM OWNER:

We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. If there is no more to this deal this will really set back the magic for years to come.

I'd go even further and say that if this is true then Otis is an fricking idiot and his "creative financing" was all bulls**t. To be on those numbers we'd have to renounce the rights to Fran, Diener and Darko.

I've been giving him the benefit of the doubt until now, but this is gonna be the final straw.

If this deal goes through this is what he'll have done in the past year and a half:

Trade Cato and a 1st rounder for Arroyo and a rental of a year and a half of Darko.

Lose a PF and a SF to the free agency and a 2nd rounder to Seattle so he could sign a SF who is a good scorer, a bad defender and a bad rebounder to a contract that will make him the best payed player on the East, above guys like LeBron, Wade, Pierce and.... Dwight Howard.

Make this team hostage of the MLE for at least the next 5 years, because from next year on two players (Howard + Rashard) will be making 40+ millions alone.

I've criticised Otis for not making a single move last year in the trade deadline and people criticised me for jumping on the gun too soon.
I've criticised Otis for being a dumbass when the Donovan fiasco occured, I forgave him when he signed SVG a week later but people criticised me because "Otis dealt with it the right way".
If this S&T goes through, I'm sorry, but Otis is a freaking IDIOT and the Magic just got themselves burried in mediocrity for the next half decade.

ESPN has these values:
1: $16.68 million
2: $18.43 million
3: $20.37 million
4: $22.51 million
5: $24.87 million
6: $27.48 million

T: $130.34 million

AHAHAHAH, I can't believe it. Rashard is worth only half of it. Kobe and Duncan aren't even making that kind of money.
Otis is just about to ruin the franchise for the next 6 years.

Nothing has been set in stone yet. I have my doubts that this is the entirety of the trade.

I'm told the Rashard sign-and-trade will be done and the Magic will only be sending back a second-round pick. Apparently, Seattle didn't want the Magic's expiring contracts.

A second-round draft pick for an overpaid small forward. :|

There's just one problem with that. You can't physically do that. Sure, we see small time players get traded for second round picks, but this is completely different. If the Sonics refuse to take any of the Magic's contracts then they can't have a Sign and Trade.

I didn't think you could either, but who knows. This keeps getting curiouser and curiouser with each passing day.

I just changed the thread title to reflect this:

Smith said it appears a proposed sign-and-trade deal with Lewis' former team, the Seattle SuperSonics, is a no-go. The maneuver would have allowed the Magic to create cap space to perhaps re-sign Milicic and provide Lewis with a lucrative sixth year, but Smith contends Cornstein all but sabotaged the deal on his end with the Sonics.

Lewis, 27, is expected to sign a five-year contract worth nearly $100 million, roughly $97 million based on the new salary-cap ceiling projected by the league to be an estimated $56 million per team.

According to a source with knowledge of the negotiations, the Magic will pay Lewis, 27, a maximum contract over the next six years worth $126.4 million.

I wanted Lewis, but be better live up to this contract!!

lol, we better not say anything until the deal is signed.

Been reading on other boards (mind you, they aren't necessarily credible, but just for fun) that the Sonics will get a Trade Exception that will put plenty of $$$$ in their wallet.

Meanwhile, I'm still thoroughly confused.

I really hope this is dead instead of doing a trade at this point. It sounds like it would only hurt us to toss things the Sonics' way right now.

Press conference is scheduled to 1pm (Orlando Time Zone).
It'll be 7pm here, right before dinner.
I'm hoping I won't have the appetite ruined by hearing the numbers involved.

What the f**k is going on? Rashard Lewis is not even close to worth that kind of money.
