i agree with black and blue on the assessment because I think Cornstein was going to hold the team hostage with darko just like B&B said and even though people may say Otis did some underhanded moves he probably didnt trust Cornstein either after he mislead the organization about Fran that whole time

I wouldnt put it past him. He got Fran more money didn't he?

I am not sure if this is really Darko related news because it did not come from either of my sources with the Magic, but I will tell you what I heard from the Warriors.  The Warriors contacted Darko’s agent and let him know they were interested.  However what came back to them was a little shocking.  They were told Darko would not be considering any deals for any team at the MLE right now.  My friend who works for the Warriors was told by his boss, “DARKO WANTS TO PLAY FOR THE MAGIC.”  I am not sure if this was told to them by his agent because that would make no sense, or if they are assuming this is the case, or they heard it from somewhere else.  Like I said, I am not putting a great deal of fait in this because it is 3rd and fourth hand at best.  But I thought it was interesting so I thought I would share.

It makes a lot of sense that the email Otis sent to Darko hit home and Darko still wants to be with the Magic.  If you remember at the end of last season he even hinted he would give Orlando a discount because he liked it here.  I think Darko’s days in Detroit are paying dividends right now.  You see Darko has already been to a team that in his words “was hell for him”.  It would seem his happiness is #1 on his list.  Yes money will be important, but Darko likes Orlando and likes his teammates.  With all the uncertainty up to this point in his career, it is very understandable why Darko would still want to see what the Magic could do for him.  You have to feel bad for the guy because his experience as a NBA player has not been anything he has expected.

Yes its from MC, but its still interesting to read how this situation might be going down.

On the topic of Milicic - I have yet to really see any other team express more than a passing interest in the big fella. Sure, his agent says 25 teams have called, but it doesn't appear that anything has come of it. I wonder how much interest there really is, because, at least publicly, it doesn't appear to be too much.

Seems to me like either Cornstein is taking the Otis approach and keeping mum, or all of that interest has waned. I'd venture to guess the latter, especially when you consider how much Milicic is seeking.

Well, we wont know till Wednesday the 11th, because thats when teams can start signing players. Until then, everything is an unknown.

Apparently, Darko is now on the Grizzlies' radar:

The Grizzlies' pursuit of a big man continued over the weekend with meetings involving free agents or their agents.

Griz general manager Chris Wallace met with New Jersey's Mikki Moore, and the agents for Orlando's Darko Milicic and Cleveland's Anderson Varejao in Las Vegas where Memphis is participating in an NBA summer league.

[....]

Milicic is another intriguing option.

He is an unrestricted free agent after Orlando withdrew a qualifying offer to Milicic last Tuesday.

Reportedly, the 7-footer is looking for a long-term deal averaging between $9 and $10 million a year.

Trying to picture Darko in Memphis -- not just the team, but the city itself -- cracks me up.

Darko there would be interesting, simply because a Gasol team up could be pretty good for them. If Varejao stays in Cleveland, I'd say it's a good bet.
