Air Gortat

And just FYI... Augustine had 11 pts, 5 rbs, and 4 TOs. Gortat had 10 pts, 12 rbs, 6 asts, and 5 TOs (not a bad stat line at all!) JJ had 30 pts, 3 rbs, 2 asts, and only 1 TO. He shot 4-6 from behind the arc, and 12-12 from the line. Steven Smith scored 13, and Kevin Kruger had 11. Nobody else was in double digits. Rakovic - DNP. |

Kruger had 11 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 2 turnovers in 31 minutes of action. He shot 3-of-7 from the field but 3-of-5 from downtown. Just don't let him take layups, I guess. |

Waydigo JJ! I was expecting him to go off....and I am thrilled with the early results. Augustine and Gortat played marginally well...but they'll have to show more to get me comfortable with the possibility of them getting actual time. Kevin Kruger merits some watching. He was a good player at the college level, his dad is a seasoned coach, and he doesn't seem to make dumb mistakes. If all else fails, he could make the roster. It might be interesting. |

Awesome job JJ! I knew he would come out firing. He wants to show that hes on another level compared to everyone else in that summer league. Also Gortat had 2 blocks 1 steal, while only going 2-8 and he still had a good stat line.

I agree. Hes not physical enough or NBA ready. Once his contract is up, i bet hes gone, and will end up playing in Europe or something. |

I also like Gortat. I think he has been working his a** off to get a chance to play in the NBA. Otis should give the guy a chance. I reckon he will be at least better than Kasun. |

As I pointed out in my blog :shamelessplug:, Kruger could have a spot with the Magic as the third point guard if Arroyo and Dooling are traded and Diener leaves via free-agency. He could back up Jameer and Earl Watson. |

Isn't Gortat a little more seasoned at the professional level, though? I like him better than Augie, too, but let's give the kid some more time. I don't expect huge things out of either of them, to be honest. |

I didn't get a chance to watch today's 88-65 whupping of the Pacers, but I did look at the box score, and it is nice. Augie had 16 and 10. Gortat had 15 points on 7-of-10 from the field. J.J. had 17, 5, and 6. Kruger had 18 points and shot 4-of-7 from downtown.

Aw, man just seeing these stats and reading the recap get me so psyched for next season. I think Gortat, Augustine and JJ will make great contributions next season. Gortat has shown to be a solid all around big. And Augustine should be a good big guy off then bench who can grab rebounds and score sometimes. I think the reason Gortat didnt get too many rebounds is probably because Augustine was getting most and the rest of the team rebounded very well too. I wouldnt look too much into it. |
