We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. I still think our glaring weakness right now is frontcourt depth. We bring in Artest, and it doesn't help there. I'm personally excited about the possibility of Trevor Ariza and J.J. Redick splitting time at the 2. I still say no.

Hedo for Ron works and so does Hedo for Shareef. Both are possible with their salaries. |

Your acting like improving our forwards is a bad thing. Even if we swap Hedo for Artest we still have the problem but were improving at the SF. No one is denying that we need backup PF and C help but if we can improve other positions why not? Its not like anyone would trade a decent big man for Hedo anyway. |

This is why i was a little skeptical about this at first... The Magic management has been adamant about not adding guys who have a bad reputation. They wanted stand up guys and good guys. So does this mean they take that back? Or this is just a bogus rumor or what? Thats what im wondering with this rumor... But how sick would a lineup be with Artest AND Lewis?! C- Howard / Kasun? PF- Battie / Gortat? SF- Lewis / Ariza SG- Artest / Redick PG- Nelson / Dooling Yes we have question marks with the backup big guys but if we have this starting lineup it would be sick! And yes it can be done with Artest playing the 2. He is capable of it and many teams have been playing with 3s playing the 2 spot. Like us last year with Grant, and Memphis uses Rudy Gay at the 2, and many other teams have used lineups like that too. |

I think it's more of a logjam than an improvement. I mean, sure, Artest's skills are more highly valued than Turk's. But Shard is our 3. So we slide Artest to the 2. Less PT for developing players like Trevor and JJ. Don't get me wrong, I understand your logic. I just disagree. All Artest will bring is his negative attitude and the atmosphere that follows that, and it will kill developing our younger players that are more likely to be a big part of this team's future. |

Is the Florida Today suggesting that the Magic need to get nasty? Not really sure how Artest would give the Magic an attitude adjustment that was "well-needed" or WHY anyone would think he was capable of doing so. Your lineup is pretty much right. Maybe my previous reasoning doesn't work...Ariza and Redick would get their shots, and develop in low-pressure situations. If it happens, I'll cheer Artest until he blows things up. It's always a matter of when with that guy...never IF. He's the roundball T.O. |

Pat Williams called 740 to say the rumors are utterly bogus. Couple this with Artest's agent not hearing anything and sounds as if this story is dying rapidly. I'm hoping there is more to it, but looking bad right now. |

Yeah thats what i was talking about in this thread earlier. It looks to be bogus because of the Magic not wanting to take on any character problems. Also the lineup would be a little hard to deal with. |

There is possible that a 4 way trade could happen. Magic,Kings,Sonics, and Knicks. The Magic wants to unload Turk. The Kings wants Turk and to unload Artest. The Knicks want Artest. The Sonics want compensation for Lewis. |

I worry about his attitude. But maybe winning would put him in a better mood. If we are able to land Lewis and Artest we could put my 85 year old grandmother at the 5 and be okay. |

Hedo for Artest would be an absolute steal, but I'm just afraid of Ronny boy wrecking our young team, and the future of it. |

Air Gortat

I'm definitely with Archduke and Ben on this one. First, his attitude scares the hell out of me. The fastest way to ruin an NBA team is to sign a guy like Artest. If someone makes fun of his hair, he may shoot them. Secondly, our biggest weakness (by far), is in the frountcourt. If we get rid of Turkoglu, we NEED to bring in a big guy. Counting on Gortat AND Kasun is way too much of a gamble. I completely agree that he is an upgrade over Turk, but he's an upgrade at the wrong position. I'm against this in every conceivable way. |
