A summer more -since 2001 has done habitual-, the NBA calls again to the doors of the Spanish basketball to be carried to another of its more coveted national representatives.  It plays in the Winterthur Barcelona, but is not Juan Carlos from Navarre.  The Edging Magics bet of new fort by Fran Vázquez, as two seasons ago when he chose it in the eleventh position of the 'draft' -players election drawing that each season is celebrated-.  The difference with respect to then is the answer of the spaniard.  "Already I am prepared to give the leap", affirmed yesterday the center to this newspaper since its vacation rest in Marbella, three days after finish the end of the League ACB as runner-up.

Vázquez, that does not want to speak neither of contracts in the Edging neither of clauses at the outset, is hurt with certain informations about its renunciation to play in the NBA.  "I want to contradict that never I said that never would be going to play me there.  Only I said, and I say it again, that I am very I please in the Barcelona, and that I do not be in a hurry in crossing the Atlantic one.  But now I have determined that this is the ideal moment to dress the undershirt of the Magics, therefore they have shown me amply their interest in which I play with the Edging".

With the team of Florida could debut two seasons ago, al to be elected the 11.º in the 'draft', but then surprised to own and strange with its renunciation to be gone to United States.  "Do not I go to the NBA by personal motives.  Still I have to learn well the language and I should improve physics, technical and mentally.  If all goes well, I will give the leap further on", affirmed to this newspaper in the summer of 2005, and aimed: "The people believes that me I have not gone to the NBA by fear and cowardice.  I have been there and I will not return until sits down myself prepared"

Getting him out of that FC Barcelona contract is going to be hell. Fran really didn't think that one through at all.

If it is too nuts to get him out of that deal I say we just let him rot over there until it's cheaper to get him.

It'll be another year or two before he comes over. There's no way we're going to buy out his contract, and there's no way he's going to ask to get out of it.

Also, those quotes may be the best thing ever.

Mr. Anderson
I saw some article saying that Fran was misquoted and he will honor the remaining 2 years on his contract in Europe.

I’ve always been of the opinion that Vazquez will never play for the Magic, not after the way he embarrassed the organization two years ago. Now, after the Magic infuriated his agent, it’s a certainty that Vazquez will continue to reign mainly in Spain for the foreseeable future.

Deal his rights to someone. Maybe we can get some more cash. I don't think Fran EVER wanted to be here, and if Cornstein is representing him, he's likely to be a headache whenever his contract with Barcelona expires.

Cornpuff is his agent, so I'm assuming Fran will "never play for the Magic as long as Otis Smith is the GM" either...

Fran and Orlando also request a reduction of their clause

06/07/07 03:00 h.The decision of Joan Laporta to reduce the clause of rescission of the contract of Juan Navarrese Carlos (of 10 million euros to less than 3) has seated a dangerous precedent for the FC Barcelona. Until the point of which after finding out the movement of the azulgrana president the agent of Fran Vázquez and the Magic de Orlando, who have the rights of Gallego in the NBA, they called to the club to ask for the same treatment of favor.

Vázquez, chosen by Trimming in the position nº 11 of draft of 2005, signed a succulent contract with the Barça a year ago. Pívot of 2,09 as much has a clause of exit - for the NBA as for Europe by an amount that varies between 7 and 10 million euros. This summer the number is the Maxima - that is to say, such 10 million euros that it had Navarrese and as they are passing the years the amount are descending progressively. Vázquez has three seasons more of contract, after which the club can extend the commitment by a plus.

Magic, to that Vázquez left planted two years ago when everybody gave by fact its landing in the NBA, have continued hoping that Fran decides to cross the Atlantic. Pívot made days ago declarations in which showed their will to play already in the American league, after feeling finally prepared, although soon it clarified them to assure that it is only a future idea. With a reduction of clause like the one of Navarrese, it could go away tomorrow

basically says that with the decision of Joan Laporta to allow a buyout and reduction in Juan Navarro's contract (from 10 million euros to less than 3) it has possibly set a dangerous precedent for other foreign teams. once the decision was made, Orlando contacted Fran and Barcelona to discuss a buyout...the buyout could come as soon as tomorrow if Barcelona agrees...
