Ok iceveins333 let me ask you this.Would you be happier to Shawn Marion in Pinstripes rather than Lewis??? Both can score but Lewis gets a bigger average of points because his current team The Seattle Sonics don't really have a decent bigman yet.But Marions does Stoudimire. That probley has alot to do with his Point Average.Your thoughts iceveins333??

ec23456

Of course rashard lewis is more skilled offensively than marion who benefits from playing with stoudemire/nash and lewis benefits from playing with ray allen

i dont mind rashard lewis on the magic but he isnt worth a max deal, look at cleveland who threw all that max money at larry hughes for the sake of getting lebron a sidekick that offseason no matter what and larry hughes was the best FA in a weak class (after redd signed his extension) and the cavs are stuck with his contract now which he isnt worth

to me max money deals should go to superstar players which rashard lewis isnt, i would much rather throw a max deal at gilbert arenas next year (if he opts out, which could happen if the wizards dont do good this year) than overpay lewis

like i said i have no problem with lewis being on the magic, i have a problem with his pricetag, if he would sign for the 9-10 mill/yr range i would have no complaints

You got the Hughes story some what twisted and is completely different from the magic situation. First off Hughes was must likely the 4th best player in that offseason after Micheal Redd, Ray Allen, and Joe Johnson. True Hughes was brought to cleveland to be Lebrons sidekick but he was far from their number one opintion, he was really their third. The Cavs first went after Redd and Allen who both where better fits with Leborn for the simiple fact that they could spread the floor when Lebron got alot of attention. When both said no instead of going after Joe Johson, the better fit, they go after Hughes who was the worst possiblitly choose. Hughes was a slasher more of a jump shooter and was a better third opiniton then a second opinition, it was just bad luck and wrong chooses that lead tp cavs to pick up Huhges.

In the maigc situation it was clear for some time now that lewis is who the magic are trageting and fits best with the magic. A guy who could give them 20 plus a night from the perimenter to go along with Dwight and Darko in the post. Getting a guy like G. Wallace and paying him big bucks over the likes of Lewis, Carter, and Billups is what i would consider a Larry Hughes move. Unlike the other 3 players listed G. Wallace does not bring what the magic need the most, a perimenter scorer who may not even be considered a second opintion.

As much as I love Arenas he was never coming here espeacially the big time resigning expected by Dwight howard and If Darko resigns. Then also add the fact that you would have to let half the team go to get him. That article was a pipe dream made up by a local writter.

But i do agree that lewis is not worth 15 million a year more like 12 or 13 million and I believe that is how much he will get when it is all said and done. But even if he does get max money there many other player just like him getting the same deal.

According to an NBA source close to the situation, the Heat plans a push to acquire forward Rashard Lewis from the SuperSonics.

The Heat can offer no more that the $5.5 million mid-level exception. To complete a deal with the SuperSonics, it would require getting Seattle to agree to take on about $10 million of its contracts.

With Shaquille O'Neal and Dwyane Wade out of play in any trade talks, that likely would mean the Heat would start any discussions with the Sonics by offering power forward Udonis Haslem.

The Charlotte Bobcats and Orlando Magic, teams that could create enough salary-cap space to sign Lewis outright, also are interested in the 6-foot-10 3-point specialist.

Free agents cannot be signed until July 11, although negotiations can begin Sunday.

I still think that we have the inside track. The thought of pairing up with Shaq and D-Wade is nice, but he could be the man here in Orlando. Hopefully the sign and trade thing doesn't mess us up though, as I know I would rather have Haslem than Turk at this point.

McGrady and Howard... What could have been
Looks like the heat are in the Mix.... and I think they can give up more for Lewis

Jason Williams, and Undanis Haslem will most likely be dealt if Rashard makes 15 million... Which I doubt will happen.

He 11 or 12 million will be the price. Jason Williams has an expiring contract for 9 million, and so does Michael Doleac. You take on those 2.....

I don't think Seattle will take Hedo Turkoglu for 3 more years.

Someone over at the Orlando Sentinel suggested this trade, which is one I would love to see personally.

Orlando gets:
Rashard
Wallace
Okafor

Charlotte gets:
Darko
Chris Wilcox

Seattle:
Pat Garrity
Vladimir Radmanoric
Kwame Brown
Smush Parke

Lakers:
Hedo
Wally Szzerbiak

After checking it out on the Trade Machine, all the pieces fit. The Lakers would get some good players who can score in a hurry. Doubt it would be enough for Kobe, but could sway his decision slightly as these pieces would make them a better team, and make their bench better in my opinion.

Seattle would be getting some serviceable players here that they would could very well put around Durant, Green, and West. They need to finish the rebuilding project and go from there instead of staying right in the middle if they keep Lewis and Wilcox.

Charlotte gets rid of Okafor who is going to be up for an extension very soon and they get something out of Wallace as well. Darko will be a dominating presence in the low post for them and finally gives him a chance to shine. They also get Chris Wilcox who will bring some experience.

Orlando gets three players who will immediately contribute. Wilcox and Okafor would go perfect next to Dwight. Then they get their star player in Rashard Lewis. And we get rid of Hedo and Garrity.

If that trade happened, I would personally die.

The Sentinel reports here that the Magic did not contact Milicic at 12:01 this morning, which is highly irregular. In fact, as of the story's publication, the Magic still hadn't called. 10 other teams have contacted Darko.

Bad news, I think. Last summer, they yanked the extension offer off the table at the last minute and this summer they haven't talked to him. Not a good way to show a free-agent that he's wanted. :/

That makes no sense, at all. Why the hell would we not contact him? What advantage could that possibly serve?

I have no f---ing idea. Even weirder is this chat with Otis Smith, conducted at season's end, in which Otis says "[Re-signing Darko] is the first thing you have to concern yourself with."

I'm so confused.

Ever since you posted that, I've been racking my brain trying to come up with a reason to explain why we wouldn't have contacted him.

So far, I've got nothing.

If I'm not mistaken, we can't do much of anything until we make a decision on Milicic. We need to agree to sign him, or agree to let him walk, but keeping him in the dark only slows both of us down.

We need to get our act together...quickly.

The Magic are very close to working things out with Darko and his agent. It looks as if Darko will make between 6.5 million and 7 million for this coming season and it will slowly grow every season 4 for years with a option on year number 5.

Yeah, okay. Whatever you say.

The Magic had said that they wanted Milicic to return, and add a free agent such as small forward Rashard Lewis, who has played in Seattle the past nine seasons.

The Magic might have quickly turned all their attention to Lewis or another free agent. Lewis' agent, Tony Dutt, reportedly was meeting with Sonics General Manager Sam Presti on Sunday in Houston.

The development could mean that the Magic are trying to work a sign-and-trade involving Milicic and Lewis.

Haha, wow. The Sonics fans I know have been saying for months that they want nothing to do with Darko. Sucks for them.
Sucks for us, too. There's bound to be a team out there willing to take Hedo off our hands so we can sign both Lewis and Darko.

"Is he restricted or unrestricted? Look, Darko knows that we love him and want him here. What else is there to do?"

Complete Insider story (quote is from free preview)
Um, how about call him as a common freakin' courtesy?
