ESPN -

Chauncey Billups officially opted out of his contract Monday, making him an unrestricted free agent as of July 1.

"Chauncey's first intention is to come back to Detroit, and we'll continue to explore that as an option, but if we're unable to make a deal with the Pistons my obligation is to look at other possibilities that will provide long-term security for Chauncey and his family," agent Andy Miller told ESPN.com.

Billups was due to make $6,819,000 next season in the final year of his contract, which had an early termination option.

I really hope we go after him. He may be the solution to all of our problems.

I don't expect him to go anywhere. He was underpaid last season; if I'm remembering this right, he only made $6 M, which is well below-market value. Detroit would be foolish to let him go, and he'd be foolish to go anywhere else.

Billups

Bench:
Battie
someone
Hedo/Bogans
Bogans/Dooling
Nelson/Dooling/Arroyo

Then trade Arroyo/Dooling for a 3rd/4th big men with some experience and we're set.

I cant stand the guy because of the damage he has done to Orlando in the two playoff series. HOWEVER........seeing him in a Magic uniform would probably change my opinion of the guy! :)

We better throw money at him, he would be an amazing pickup. Im sure Otis was on the phone with Dumars as soon as he heard that Billups opted out. He probably will go back to Detroit, but we might as well try. He would officially make our team great.

Damn straight! The Magic better at least make some kind of an attempt to get Billups. Never know what could change his mind.

I would be highly surprised if he leaves Motown. They're just a mediocre team without Billups.

Even thou the magic need a pg i don't think Billups would be that great of a fit. The guy is on his down side of his career and even thou he is good in the clutch I would not consider him a scorer. Anyway I think that the magic are putting most of their attention on Lewis and consider him their number one target. But really I think that Billup will stay in Detroit, if not there the bucks.

Billups use to play here so why would he want to come back?
He is testing the Market.
Maybe Heat or Lakers or Bulls or so on.
Nelson is the PG at the moment.
They are better off getting Jason Terry or Jamal Tinsley in a Trade.

"Play" only applies loosely to Billups. He was on the injured list during his time here; he never played a second for us.

Do you really prefer Jamaal Tinsley, who can't throw a rock into the ocean, to Chauncey Billups, a Finals MVP?

Jamaal Tinsley speaking of IR is not the answers to this team. Also, Jason Terry?? That's an exact mold of Jameer.

Billups would be a great addition to us, and PTI mentioned him coming to us in passing (they said he had a 70% chance of leaving), but I would rather have Rashard. Billups would be a great prize should our talks with Lewis break down.
