Greg Oden is a freak of nature

The Oregonian has secured the official weights, measurements and testing results from the Orlando predraft camp, and wait until you get a load of the freak of nature called Greg Oden.

For starters, his numbers blow Kevin Durant out of the water.

There are several startling revelations in the numbers, and the one that immediately pops out is the bench press. Players were rated on how many times they could bench press 185 pounds. Oden didn't attempt the bench press in order to prevent an injury to his right wrist, which has recently recovered from injury.

But get this: Only one player was unable to bench press 185 even once - Kevin Durant.

The thing that jumps out is Oden's speed and agility.

We all know Oregon's Aaron Brooks is fast. Brooks finished the 3/4 court sprint in 3.2 seconds. Oden was 3.27 seconds. Durant, meanwhile, finished in 3.45.

Oden's 11.67 in the agility drill speaks volumes to the footwork so many scouts rave about. Durant did the same drill in 12.33.

This isn't that surprising since most people figure Durant will have to add size to work in the NBA. He is super skinny and not too physical but those things will come with time.

I don't know, I think it's kind of embarassing actually that Durant couldn't lift that weight. I can bench press at least 225, and I really don't even work out that much.

Isn't Durant often projected to be a PF?

225? Whoa are you sure? I bench 250 but I am also 6 foot 5 and lift heavily 3 times a week. That is insane if you could do that and you should be proud of yourself.

Yeah, but it's not like 15 reps or anything crazy like that. I'm about 6'1'' 185-190 pounds. I usually go down to my cousins' place to lift, he has everything set up down there. Maybe I'll go a few times a week, then maybe once, etc. Usually I'm an avid runner though, that explains my leaner frame.

Haha, but yeah.. I'll do 225 about 5 times or so.

I'm most comfortable at around 200-215 though.

Drafting Marbury + Foyle = Championship. \o/
I'm 5'9'' and 165 lbs and the only thing I can lift is my glass of beer. And after a few of them they become quite heavy.

I win.

Sounds like something SVG would do. Just maybe 265 instead of 165.

In other news, Al Horford lifted 185 lbs. 22 times (I think the most from the NBA combine).

Horford, along with Corey Brewer are going to be beasts in the NBA down the road.

Not too suprising? We new he was skinny, but not THAT skinny. The guy cant even lift 185 pounds -- once! If he is gonna play with the big boys he has to be able to bang with them. And he looks too weak. Who knows if this could hurt his stock a little.

Eh, I'm sure he'll go 2nd still. He better try to bulk up during the summer and get stronger, or he's going to have a hard time clashing with the big guys of the NBA.

Let's not be too hard on the guy. I recall when Dwight came in, he could barely lift 185. Now, he's cock diesel. Once he's on a steady weight lifting program, he'll fill out his Blazers/Sonics jersey.
