Is the NBA going back to the synthetic ball?; Looks like it in Pre-Draft Camp

Here's a picture from Pre-Draft Camp at Disney's Wide World of Sports.

If you guys remember correctly, Dwight started out this season shooting phenomenally from the free throw line and he dropped drastically as soon as the league went back to the leather ball.

It would be stupid for the NBA to have draft prospects use the synthetic ball only to have them go back to the leather ball.

Interesting... <_<

That's weird. Maybe Stern just had a bunch left over and thought these kids weren't worth the real thing.

Maybe they're just using it for the camps or something.

Those balls are likely the only ones the camp had. I remember reading a story in mid December about teams having to scramble all over the place to get leather balls to practice with, since they only had a few left over from the previous season and were inundated with the synthetic ones.

I doubt Stern would switch back to those old/new ones, at least not without consulting the players first.

Yeah. I think it would be unlikely that the League would revert back to the synthetic ball.

I remember Stern mentioning that he still wanted to test the idea of using synthetic balls, for possible use in the future - so this doesn't come as a surprise.

I must say, they do look much cooler than the original leather balls.
