Kobe Bryant isn't happy with the Lakers' direction and wants Jerry West back in Los Angeles to fix things.

Bryant told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher that he wants the Lakers to bring West back to the organization and give him full authority. If the Lakers don't want to do that, Bryant said he wants to be traded.

Bryant is frustrated that the team has not made any significant moves since it re-signed him.

"I want to see us get to a contending level," he told The Los Angeles Times. "I want to see us become a championship contender. It's been a frustrating process for me and I'm sure it's been a frustrating process for all Laker fans. I'm just hoping we can get to that level. I'm still frustrated. I'm waiting for them to make some changes."

Mitch Kupchak is the current Lakers general manager.

It would surprise me if the Lakers didn't go all-out to get West now. I think Kobe is pretty serious about this. Wouldn't you be?

I'm sorry, but I have to say it: Kobe is such a whiny b**ch. After reading Phill Jackson's book and hearing the day to day with him, it's obvious he is a major prima donna. He gets the Lakers to get rid of Shaq to satisfy his own massive ego, and then when he fails he complains of the lack of talent around him.

Ridiculous.

Could I support the Magic if Kobe played here?

That's a tough question, and I basically bleed blue and silver.

I dunno, Kobe gets a bad rap and most of the time he deserves it. But I never really minded him. The guy is just amazing, and easily the best pure scorer since Jordan.

I don't really like Kobe, but if he were to come here, my love of championships were surely outweigh my dislike of Kobe.

A Kobe-Dwight combination would possibly rival the dominance he had with Shaq.

I doubt we have a shot at landing Kobe. Outside of Dwight, who would the Lakers want? I think a team like Chicago has a better chance at landing him, for example.

I don't think Kobe will leave L.A. until he is on the downswing of his career. For now, the Lakers will just do their best to surround him with pieces. Since it is Los Angeles, and as we know Nike throws a ton of money at their players if they play in a major market, it is only a matter of time before another big name is there with him.

He'd most likely never come here, and I could never even picture it. Not even Orlando, I honestly couldn't picture him in another teams jersey. But hey, most people thought the same with Iverson and now look where he is.

ESPN.com is reporting that Bryant was just suggesting that West come back.

Kobe Bryant

"I'm not making any threats. I didn't say that. Those words didn't come out of my mouth about a trade. I'm just making a suggestion. I think Jerry West is one of the greatest to ever do this thing. It's undeniably so."

Sounds to me like he's backpedaling. I doubt he'd get traded anyway. He has a no-trade clause. Would he OK a trade to Chicago or to New York? Maybe, because those are two big-market cities. But I don't see him leaving the Lakers.

Figures.

He would possibly OK a trade, but I don't think any offers would arise any time soon. Unless they go out and say he's available. Which I highly doubt.

New York Post -
A source tells Peter Vecsey of the New York Post that Kobe Bryant informed Lakers' ownership he would approve a trade to one specific team.

The source did not know which team Bryant marked.

Well I would be floored if it were us. We know that sponsors will nearly double how much they pay a client if they play in Chicago, L.A. or New York, so my guess is that it is one of those two.
