Really there is a strong possiblilitly we can keep Darko and get lewis. It is said that the the magic have around 16 million in cap space but the trick is to Trade Hedo for minor deals to clear out the cap space. Which means for second round draft picks, expring contracts and so on, in my case i would trade Hedo to houston for Sura and Vassilis. Sura will must likely be cut or retire and Vassili will likely be going back to greece. By doing this we freed up 22 million in cap space which makes us able to sign both Darko and Lewis. This possibilitly was posted a few pages back. The only why i see the magic resigning Hill is with the Vet min which will be at 1.5 million per year, he might be able to get more but at the age of 35 and bad ankles i don't know what team will. The hardest deal to pull off in my opinion is to get a decent pg. The magic need Riduour or Jack but we could only offer Bogans, Arroyo and maybe Dooling and Jamear, i don't know if either team will go for that. |

I don't know, it's going to be tough to try and sway Rashard Lewis over to Orlando when you have Darko demanding a large amount of money. Eventually, it's going to come down to either keeping Darko or signing Rashard. I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to take my chances with Lewis. I know most people would like a dominating big man alongside Dwight, but we finally get a dynamic wing-scorer in Rashard Lewis. As for replacing Darko, just grab a guy who hustles and plays good defense. Someone like a Tony Battie or something like that. |

Rashard is going to Houston (it will probably involve a sign and trade). |

I hope not. Can you imagine how dominate the Rockets would be? McGrady-Rashard-Yao.. yikes. |

Would they be as dominant as you think? Probably not. Look at the NY Yankees or the Nuggets. High PPG doesnt equal dominance or championships. Cohesion does. |

You could be right, but with T-Mac and Yao (who was hurt for a while) they won 50 something games. Granted, they made an early playoff exit.. but maybe Rashard could put them over the hump. And with the Nuggets I think you should give them a whole season with Iverson and then see if they should be classified under that category. |

I am pretty sure that Oits will find us a wing player because it would only take one trade to free enough cap space to sign darko and a wing. But if i had to pick between Darko or Lewis, I would have to pick Darko. Darko is 21 and Lewis is 28 by the time Dwight hits his prime the magic will lose Lewis and we will be searching for another wingman. And as much as I love Lewis i don't think he is a superstar wing that if paired with a young Dwight ( with no offensive other then the dunk) that could get us contending for a title, Maybe wade or lebron but not Lewis. Look at the houston Rockets who are having trouble getting out of the first round with 2 superstars in T-mac and Yao, who at this point, are better then both Lewis and Howard. In my opinion the only way the magic could contend now and the future is if they keep their current core of Ariza, Howard, Darko and maybe Jamear and add a wing like Lewis, and try to run something like what the Sac kings used to do. Seriously Rick Aldmean would have been a perfect coach for the magic, lol. The only way i break the bank and trade our core (Ariza, Darko and Jamear) is if we get a Young Superstar Wing in return, meaning no to guys like Allen, KG, Pierce, Iverson because they won't be here when Dwight hits his prime making the magic look for another wing man to pair Dwight up in the future with. Also no trades for Caron, Lewis, Hamilton, i would not trade for these guys but i am willing to add them to the core. I would only trade Ariza, Darko and Jamear for guys like Wade, Lebron, and maybe Joe Johnson because these guys are young, true superstars and will make us title contenders with Dwight for years to come. But i know full and well that won't happen, so I am hoping that we just get a wing that could go along with our core. And i doubt that Lewis goes to Houston. The rockets are over the cap so the only way he goes there is if there is a sign and trade which Seattle doesn't need to do. Seattle could just let him go because they have their replacement in Durrant and by doing a sign and trade would just push them near luxary Tax. But if Lewis somehow gets to the rockets they would be one heck of a team since they finally got their third scorer. Lewis is must like going to get around 10 to 13 million because there is only 3 teams that could sign him stright up; the magic and the bobcats. The bucks could sign him too if they make some kind of trade to free up some cap space. |

Good post Shareef. I see and understand your point, it makes sense. The current core of our young guys is very impressive, but we have to hope we could put it all together. Now would I want to keep Darko and STILL be able to sign Rashard Lewis? No doubt about it. I just think it'll be tough to be able get both on the same team. As for getting some younger stars, I like that idea. Like a Joe Johnson or someone like that who you mentioned. Very solid young player who would be able to immediately help the Magic, but it seems like he has a home with the Hawks. Now going back to Lewis, if you don't think the Rockets are potential suitors, what other teams do you think would be able to make a run for him other than the Magic? I certainly can see Seattle letting him walk, especially if they're set on picking Durant like you said. I think Lewis would fit in well with Houston and he'd be the final piece to their puzzle, but who really knows at this point. |

The Rockets also might get Steve Francis as well. So a Francis/McGrady/Lewis/Yao team doesn't sound too bad. I think the Nuggets will be better next season because they (Melo and AI) will play 82 games together. Also, with Camby and JR Smith trying to do something (God he sucks) they should be good. |

Like i said before there are only 2 or 3 teams able to sign Lewis; the magic, the bobcats and the bucks (if they make a trade to create cap space). He would be a great fit in Houston but they are over the cap and the only way that they could get him is by sign in trade which i don't think seattle will be willing to do because that might put them over the Luxuay tax. Really I think that magic do have the best shot at getting Lewis because there are a lack of teams that could sign him and the other 2 teams that could really don't need him. Char has a boat load of SF and will likely resign Wallace. And the bucks have CV and Simmons and would likely use their cap space to get a big or resign M.Williams. Seriously it will come down to Seattle or Orlando in my opinion and the deciding factor will be the 6th year that seattle could give him. The whole game plan for the Magic at this point is to make a trade to clear enough cap space to resign Darko and to make a run at Lewis. |

He said he wouldn't mind playing there again. That team would need two basketballs to play with with Francis aka Mr. Ballhog coming back. Let's not forget about Bonzi Wells being there as well. He didn't play because JVG didn't like him. Now that Adelman is there, he should get the minutes he deserves. |

Yeah, that's for sure. That was one of the main reasons I wanted Francis gone from Orlando. He started to cut into Dwight's touches too much. He just wasn't right for this team after his first season with us. In Houston they're actually better off without him if you want to know the truth. |
