I agree with a lot of what you said.  You and I have squared off many a times over this issue, and I'm not going to beat a dead horse, but criticizing him for being biased is a little ridiculous.  Yes, he makes Arroyo sound horrible (which he isn't), but you make him sound great (which he isn't).  Personally, I don't think Arroyo is the problem - but I don't think he is the solution either.

Granted, the argument about Deron Williams and Carlos Arroyo is pointless.  I think both of our point guards would make excellent back up point guards in the right system (which this is not).  I think Jameer had many struggles this year (turnovers, decision making, etc), but there is some validity to the points others have made about Arroyo (there is a reason he cannot find a team in this league, he trouble with shot selection, his attitude has been questioned, etc.)  Hopefully we can bring in a solid starter and let these two duke it out for the reserve spot under a new head coach.

I think Arroyo is a mediocore PG I never EVER said he was great. I've always said he's a better POINT GUARD than Jameer, Make correct assesments based on his game. Not who's cheering for him in the stands.

ORLANDO - Embattled Orlando coach Brian Hill has held repeated discussions with team president Bob Vander Weide and general manager Otis Smith in the past two weeks, and he continues to operate as if he will lead the Magic next season.

"To me, everything we're doing is business as usual," said Hill, whose job has been under evaluation since the Magic were swept out of the playoffs by the Detroit Pistons.

"I'm still coming to work every day and we continue to have discussions on a daily basis about what we can do to improve this basketball team."

Hill said he's met face-to-face with Vander Weide and Smith at the team's headquarters in Orlando, and he's also had numerous phone discussions since the season ended on April 28. He said the discussions have been constructive and have dealt mostly with how the team can improve next season.

Hill has been very choosy with his words and said he couldn't go into the exact nature of the discussions. But the veteran coach feels very strongly that he will be back on the sidelines for the Magic next season and fulfill the remaining two years of his contract. He is still owed approximately $6 million for the next two years.

Vander Weide and Smith were upset at the Magic's erratic nature this season and put Hill on notice that he might not be brought back next season after Detroit beat Orlando in four consecutive playoff games. The Magic made the playoffs for the first time since 2003, but they were the only team in the postseason with a losing record at 40-42.

Vander Weide and Smith were critical of the Magic's inconsistent play, especially as Orlando limped down the stretch and struggled to lock up a playoff berth.

The Magic started the season 13-4, racing to the top of the Eastern Conference and the Southeast Division. But they swooned badly in December, January and February, falling as low as 10th in the East. Orlando won six of its final seven regular-season games to qualify for the playoffs as the eighth seed.

The Magic's offense was a mess most of the season, ranking 27th in scoring and 29th in both assists and turnovers. Management has said repeatedly it would like to see Hill loosen the reigns offensively and encourage to Magic to speed up the tempo more.

Neither Vander Weide nor Smith have spoken publicly about Hill's status the past two weeks. Neither returned calls on Monday.

Dwight Howard's agent, Aaron Goodwin, gave Hill his strongest endorsement yet, saying the Magic's franchise center will sign a contract extension for maximum years (five) and maximum dollars (approximately $80 million) in mid-July. He said Howard's relationship with Hill is solid.

The summer could be a monumental one for the Magic. They expect to have approximately $13 million in salary cap space to improve the team. The first order of business is to retain restricted free-agent power forward Darko Milicic. The Magic also will be in the market for a marquee free agent such as Vince Carter, Chauncey Billups, Rashard Lewis and Gerald Wallace. Keeping Milicic and landing one of those players would have to involve trading one of the Magic current players (most likely Hedo Turkoglu or Milicic) to create more cap room.

Hill said the player/coach evaluations and discussions the Magic have held are something that every team does following the season. Management and the coaching staff are preparing for the June 28 NBA Draft and the start of the free-agent courting period on July 1.

"Other than a couple of days last week when I was out of town, I've been in the office working every day," Hill said. "Everything is business as usual."

This is annoying. Someone in the front office step up and toss this joke of a head coach out the door please. Jeezus. Oh yeah, in other news it's now official that Rick Adelman will be the Rockets head coach. Pathetic, the Magic have no excuses for their lack of aggressiveness in trying to find a replacement. Honestly, I'm really fed up with this now.

Let's talk about something else aside from the Brian Hill situation.

Since the Sonics got the no. 2 on the draft which right now seems to be Durant, will it mean that Rashard Lewis is expendable? If he is, that should be good news to the Magic.

What do you think guys?

Normally I would say yes, but if our team has Brian Hill returning (likely) I have seriously lost hope in their decision making ability. >:(

I'd love if Rashard Lewis came to Orlando. He would add an electric, dynamic force to our lineup. He'd get the ball moving and REALLY help us offensively. It'd be sick to see him and D-Flight throwing it down in the same court together.

Rashard Lewis would be a great pickup for the Magic. He has playoff experience, he is a 6-10 SF, he shoots a great percentage from the field, and shoots a good percent from the 3pt line. Hes a very good FT shooter, he rebounds the ball pretty well, and can get some assists. He doesnt turn the ball over too much and hes a big, active defender. Also besides this past year, hes pretty good about not missing too many games. Hes normally playing in about 70+ games a year.

Rashard has been consistent his whole career. He has improved or almost have improved his scoring avg. every year in the league. He can spread the D around and is a good addition.

Hey guys, haven't been in here for a while but here is my take on the magic offseason.

1. First thing is first we need to resign Darko, simple as that. The guy is improving and it is very diffuclt to get a decent big in this league that does what he does, it would be foolish to let him go. The magic should have resigned him last season it would have been cheaper but after what he did in the playoff his agent may ask for more. I think the deal will be 5 to 6 years at 8 or 10 million dollars, i also expect some kind of team opition too.

2. We really need to get a wing scorer to play along side Darko and Dwight, I am pretty much sold on Lewis. Carter and Billups are getting up there in age and i am pretty sure Billups will stay in Detriot and i am not sure about Carter.

G.Wallace is great but he does not do what we need. He is a great shot blocker and rebounder but how effective would he be if he played beside guys like Darko and Dwight who pretty much do those things. And while Wallace is also a great perimenter defender, I expect Ariza to be good also.

Lewis is my choice because he is a great scorer and decent rebounder but his major flaw is that he plays little to no defense. My idea to hide this flaw is to start Ariza at the 2 because he is the polar oppsite of lewis, he is a great defender, slasher and does all the dirty work. Ariza played some 2 last season but for this to fully work out Ariza must improve his ball handling. If Ariza is not ready to play the 2 we must Start Dooling because we need a guy with D out on the perimeter. But the why i see it Ariza will start beside who ever we get at some point during the season, just like Darko and Dwight he is young and improving I don't know how long we could keep him on the bench.

With lewis i see a contract at 4 to 5 years at 10 to 14 million, any thing more would be over paying in my opinion. But to get him at that contract would have to include a trade, which leads me to number 3.

3. To sign lewis outright we must either trade Dooling or Turk, if i had a choice i would trade Turk. The reason why is because he does not bring it on a everyday basics and I would think more teams would have interest in turk because he could score, i think a team like Houston would love him.

4. With the current team we have a pass first pg, who is a decent defender is a must. I would love to give Nelson another try but i don't thing he is the pure point we need. A trade for Riduour or Jack would be great but i don't now what we could offer thou.

5. We must resign Hill for the Vet min would be great off the bench. With our 3 second round picks we must draft a BPA. And it would not be a bad thing to take a look at the Dauis Rice from the Deveplomental leauge.

6. And lastly I would love Iavaroni as the next Magic head coach.

Line Up:

PG: Ridour/Nelson
SG: Ariza/JJ/Dooling
SF: Lewis/Hill/Bogans
PF: Darko/Ausgtine
C: Dwight/Battie

With this line up we should be able to run the floor and play in the half court, really i see us being an half court team running when we have a chance to.

In the half court i would love to see most of the plays run thru the post with Dwight and Darko and the rest ran thru Lewis out on the perimenter. Darko, Dwght, and Lewis should be our main opintions on offence, while Ariza will be the slasher and cuter and Riduor should be ready on the outside when Darko, Dwight or Lewis are doubled.

On Defense Ariza should be guarding the best wing player and if any body gets in the paint they must deal with the Double D's lol.

Hmmm, interesting analysis. Ideally, that all sounds great. However, money doesn't grow on trees. I don't think we could resign Darko for 8-10 million a year, sign Lewis for 10-14 million a year, bring in another point guard, and resign Grant Hill - all while only giving up Turk.

As much as I want Lewis, I think it will probably come at the expense of Darko. It's a tough situation, but I really feel that we are going to have to choose which is more important. I think I'm leading towards Lewis, because I think that would make us a more complete team...but it's still very hard to part ways with such a promising young player.

Shareef, great to see you back man.

Interesting analysis and I agree with almost all of it, but I think that G. Wallace could actually fit in well here (especially if we start playing a Suns style offense that is rife with athletic talent). I also think it will be tough to get Rashard Lewis and retain a lot of pieces, but if we can get him it would be fantastic.
