i think we'd have to package them with a player in a trade cause usually 2nd round players are scrubs for the most part |

1. I think he'll be back, playing in the 6th man role. 2. Dwight is going to get all the money he can handle, granted Brian Hill doesn't turn him away. 3. No extension for Jameer, but hopefully gets a chance to prove himself under a new coach (same with Carlos) 4. Trade all the picks, it's not like we will actually use a rookie anyways. 5. Hopefully, we fire him. If not, God help us. 6. We'll get the arena. 7. As long as it's a radio deal. 8. There will be lots of etc. |

If I am in Otis shoes, I will do the following: 1) Try to resolve and figure out what Grant Hill is heading. If he wants to play again offer him the vet min. 2) Dwight will get his $80M from the Magic. And he will get a promise that he will be more involved in the offense next season. 3) No extension for Jameer. 4) Try and get Mo Williams and look for a veteran big man to help in the front court. I don't think we have much on the draft, so just assign Twardzik to scout to keep him busy and figure out a way to oust him. ![]() 5) Replace Brian Hill. He is not suited to manage this team from the bench. 6) Not my concern, but hey the playoff appearance should come a long way. 7) I will sign Garrity as a permanent representative to the players union. 8) I will try to develop some tack when dealing with interviews about failed negotiations. (read avoid saying something bad about players that one day might actually play on my team). |

Beyond what you guys think the team will do, do any of you have any big wishes for the team this offseason? My dream list: -First and foremost, sign Howard to a max year extension. Make him happy (i.e. FIRE BRIAN HILL if you can) -Try to resign Darko. If we succeed, we should use the leftover money to get some help at PG with a bargain player like Chucky Atkins. -If we know Darko wants out and won't resign with us (a likely scenario if we keep Brian Hill), we should pull a T-Mac and trade him while we can for valuable pieces/draft picks. -If Darko leaves and we are unable to trade to get any value for him, we should use the giant money bag we have and get Rashard Lewis and/or (depending on how expensive he is) Mo Williams. Afterwards see if we can dump Turkoglu and use that money to sign a vet big man. Above all, I know that this is the offseason our team has been preparing for since they saw Hill's deal was expiring and knew they wouldn't resign him (probably 7 years ago right after we got him). We just can't bungle this up. |

Fire Brian Hill, he had kill the fans' enthusiam and excitement about the team. Just give him a token front office position. He will not take us any furhter. Get Vince Carter in here. This move will increase support for the new arena deal. Give Nelson one more shot at starting pg since he will be in the last year of his contract. |

Part of me is still very reluctant to chop up our team, because I attribute so much of our failure to Brian Hill. I'd like to keep the same core, minus Grant Hill and Pat Garrity, and plus Rashard Lewis and a veteran point guard. |

What does the summer hold for the Magic? Besides the plethora of fire Brian Hill emails I receive, the second most asked question I get is what is going to happen over the summer. I thought now since the season has come to a close for the Magic I would take a look in to scenarios that could happen for the Magic. The biggest question is about Darko and how the Magic will deal with him. The general perception is that Darko will have to be taken care of first before the Magic make any moves to get the free agent wing player they covet. Well this is not entirely the case. I was told the magic have several scenarios that allow them to cahse any free agent of their choosing and still let the Darko situation play itself out. First I was told the most important thing to the Magic is not to overpay Darko for the sake of getting a contract done. They are willing to wait him out as long as necessary until they get a deal that works for both sides. This will obviously be sped up if Darko signs an offer sheet with any team. The Magic will then have 2 weeks to match and they are already resolved to match any offer no matter the cost. Darko is an asset and if another tem values him more than the Magic they will match and still keep their asset. This now brings to light what the Magic plans are when it comes to pursuing a free agent. Vince Carter has already let it be known his desire to play for the Magic. I have reported on this well over a year ago and have found nothing that would lead me to believing his desire has changed. In fact, if you look at most of the reports out of the Jersey papers since the deadline, the beat writers close to the team know this is Carter’s desire. The only thing that would prevent this would be the owner of the Nets giving him the absolute maximum dollars at the maximum length, which is highly unlikely. The big question would be how would the Magic chase Vince Carter with the Darko situation still looming over their heads. That is actually a lot easier than you might think. First of all only one thing would need to happen. I will use the Corey Maggette trade as an example. When the Magic traded Corey to the Clippers they did so with Derek Strong and Keyon Dooling so they could free up salary space. A move such as this, as lopsided as this was, would free up any necessary space. I was told when evaluating the Magic’s roster you have to separate the players in to 3 groups. The first would be the untouchables, the second would be expiring contracts and the third would be value players. Lets first discuss the value players because that is what will be the teams best option in attempting to drive a trade, or at least the threat of a trade. Hedo, JJ, Jameer, Keyon and even Carlos could be considered value picks to some teams for one reason or another. Hedo probably the most valuable because of his contract and what he can produce on the floor. Also the Magic have several second round picks, Fran’s rights and future first rounders they can deal. All it would take is the appearance from the Magic they have trades in place to free up space to sign Vince Carter. What that would do is put Jersey on notice. Then Jersey would have to decide if they wanted to play nice with the Magic and work a sign and trade or call the Magic’s bluff and possibly lose Vince to the Magic without compensation. The only untouchable on the Magic roster are Dwight, Darko and Trevor. The other 9 guys are trade bait in some form. The hardest contracts to move would be Garrity & Bogans. But even Bogans with his contract is considered relatively cheap and could be moved to a team like the Wizards if Stevenson jumps ship from them or becomes too expensive. Garrity on the other hand is an albatross like Derek Strong was. The difference with Garrity is he is very well liked in the organization. I was told that the plan for Garrity is very simple. The Magic want to give Garrity the options first before attempting to trade him. The first plan is convincing Garrity to opt out (not likely), but if they could I was told the sales pitch would be something like this. “Pat we know you would prefer to end your career on your own terms. There is not a place for you on this roster and you will probably get traded to a team you may not like. If you opt out this gives you an opportunity to see if anything is out there for you. If nothing is there for you on the free agent Market we will bring you back as part of the organization in a long term role.” There is a belief that Pat will be accommodating to the franchise in some way either by opting out or taking a buyout if they can not trade him. There is also a chance if he opts out it will be with the promise he will come back in a Bo Outlaw type of role and accept the Vet min as the same would go for Grant Hill. Say what you will about Pat, but this summer is his opportunity to redeem himself in the eyes of many Magic fans. He is set to earn slightly under $4 million. If he is stubborn and does not want to work with the Magic on finding the best solution, he could find himself out of the league after next season and that would be his final paycheck in the NBA. If he works out a deal, Garrity could find himself at the least as an ambassador for the Magic and never have to go through the hassles of moving out of Orlando and still collect a nice pay check for as long as he chooses in an organizational role. I do not personally have a read on the situation other than what I was told were the Magic’s options. It will be nice heading in to next season having it resolved one way or the other. Buying out or working something out with Garrity would free up $4 million and Trading contracts or players that have value like Dooling and Hedo would free up anything else needed to sign Carter outright. What this would do is put Jersey in the position of having to make a tough decision. In this scenario with Jersey or any other team you would see the Magic be generous enough so that neither teams comes out looking like they got a bad deal. Don’t think it could happen? A team like the Knicks always prove they can chase any free agent and they are way over the cap. Knowing the Otis, I have faith he has several options in front of him to get the wing scorer that he wants. I will look at the draft possibilities later in May as I hear of possible trades that could be on the horizon. The Magic have up to 3 second round picks this year and will make an attempt to parlay them and other assets in to a mid first round pick. On a final not, I received a lot of questions about Otis and his comment about Vince Carter being “fools gold.” And if there was true interest in Carter because of this comment. Well to set the record straight, the comment Otis made was made in the context of making a trade for Carter. I understood it as that Otis felt mortgaging the teams future by giving up Darko and Trevor in a deal for Carter was fools gold. The fools gold comment had nothing to do with what he thought of Vince as a player. It had to do with what he would have to give up for Vince and that Vince alone would not be able to lead this team to a championship. It would be fools gold to think that giving up your core young studs for Vince would give you anything more than a possible second round playoff exit. Credit:MagicConfid |

Is Vince Carter still in the equation?? Try to get one of the following men: Rashard Lewis, VC, or Gerald Wallace. Also try to go after Chauncey Billups. The man don't need to fire Brian Hill guys. Also, if Chauncey is out of the equation then Mo Williams. I don't like the idea of Jameer Nelson starting for us anymore. He is too inconsistent. Pat Garrity wants more playing time. LOL Now that's funny. I also think we should resign Grant Hill for the minimum. If we don't get him back, then no need to sign him for more money then. |

One of the top moves should be is get Clifford Ray back. Remove Dwight and Darko off the national teams, let them go through the Clifford Ray's Training Camp. |

Drafting Marbury + Foyle = Championship. \o/
|
Actually, he came to this last season with a very much faster footwork than the one he had the season before. And that was very noticeable in our fist games. I remember some of his interviews when he said that he had worked hard on that aspect of his game when in the USA national team. Of course that with our coaching staff and their methodology, he lost that same speed during the season... way to go Magic coaching staff \o/ |
