We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. Even though there are no plans to move him into the starting lineup, Magic forward Trevor Ariza will continue to get playing time like a starter, according to Coach Brian Hill.

Ariza went into Sunday having scored in double figures in eight straight games. He also has played at least 30 minutes in six of the past seven games.

"I want him on the floor as much as possible," Hill said before the Magic-Celtics game. "Of all the guys coming off the bench, he'll be getting the most minutes night in and night out."

Ariza has been making huge strides lately, helped by the six games earlier when he started because of an injury to Hedo Turkoglu. Hill has said several times that he will continue to use Ariza in reserve, unless another injury dictates a lineup change.

Rivers catches up on family time

A road game isn't the normal road game for a coach when he is returning home. Celtics Coach Doc Rivers proved that this weekend, using the trip to catch up on family time.

After the Celtics practiced Saturday morning in Orlando, Rivers was able to see his daughter play a club volleyball match that afternoon, then watched his son play a high school basketball game Saturday night, even having dinner at his Winter Park home.

While the rest of his team will return to Boston today, deciding not to leave immediately after the game Sunday, Rivers will stay in town another night, see another son play basketball, then fly back on a commercial flight Tuesday morning, expecting to be at the Celtics practice Tuesday night.

"It's really kind of nice being busy like that," he said. "It's a lot better than sitting in a hotel room, bored."

Rivers likes nothing better than coming back and beating the Magic. It wasn't going to happen Sunday.

"The first half was the worst effort I've seen from us this entire year," Rivers said. "I told our guys at halftime that I've never been more disappointed in a team in one half than our first half tonight. I thought we showed up to put on a show, an up-tempo, every-man-for-himself game."

The Celtics trailed 54-38 at intermission. They outscored the Magic in the third quarter, 18-12, and 23-21 in the fourth. Rivers is 4-5 in three seasons against the Magic.

Dooling becomes Gator fan for a day

It's not often that football fans of the Miami Hurricanes are rooting for the Gators, but there is one in the Magic locker room who will be intently watching tonight's Florida/Ohio State national championship game. Guard Keyon Dooling grew up in Fort Lauderdale and has been a Miami fan all his life. "I love the Hurricanes, but I'm rooting for the Gators on this one," Dooling said.

Smith prepares for long road trip

The Magic will be leaving on an eight-night, four-city trip Tuesday morning, but it will be an even longer one for General Manager Otis Smith. He will start with the team, seeing the first two games at Golden State and Los Angeles, but then he will leave the Magic, taking a 10-day detour to Europe, making stops in France, Spain and Germany, scouting future potential talent, and even some former talent (Fran Vazquez).

Starter
I'd like to eventually see him as a starter. I know its only one game, but during that Celtics game (when Grant hill returned) his production went way down. I know he wasn't starting before (when Grant Hill was out) but he seemed more a part of the gameplan.
