No. If we resign him it should be only for the vet min. Which is a little over 1 million a year. He is a good guy and has stated he will take the minimum if he doesnt retire. Either way, Ariza has blossomed as of late and will continue to be great so we have some insurance if he doesnt stay.

Yes he already has said that he want to return to this team for the vet minimum. WE just won't find a quality player like him on the market. He brings more to the table than stats because he is a leader and is good for our young guys.

I agree, it MUST be only for the Vet. minimium. But if I remember correctly, it was Brian Shmitz (not as much G Hill) that suggested that.

Oh, maybe... But i thought that it was Grant who first stated that.

anyways check this out about Grant's ankle:

Got an up close look at Grant Hill's left ankle before the game, the one that's had 150 surgeries on it. Scar tissue everywhere. Lumpy like a bowl of oatmeal. It looks like home girl from "Misery" got ahold of G-Hillie and wacked away at his ankle. Amazing that he's still playing. Remember how good he was?

This is written by a wizards reporter.

I remember seeing a pic of Grants ankle in ESPN Magazine I think. It was really nasty looking. Its hard to believe how he can still play on it.

But I am with all of you. Definitely resign him, but only for the vet minimum. He can still contribute in a smaller role for us.

I definetly think we should resign him. I can think of 3 or 4 games so far this year in which we would have had no chance of winning without him in the lineup. He is a very important player on this team - both on the court and in the lockeroom.

If Grant is healthy at the end of the season, by all means sign him to a short term contract that fits into the Magic salary structure (for some reason I just don't see him signing for the minimum). If he breaks down again this season, its time to cut ties and move on.

I think Hill is already injured (or has some effect from the damaged ankle). I read that he's not playing in the Clips game due to sore tendons in the foot. The problem with Hill is that when he is good...he's really good and its hard not to give more than a bench contributors role. But at what point does coming in and out of the lineup, missing back-to-backs, small injuries here and there hurt the chemistry and moral of the team? At what point does it beome a distraction? If we can bring back Hill and Vet minimum and treat him like a Bo Outlaw or how the Pacers are using Darrell Armstrong then I'm all for it. If we bring him back to carry the team then its not going to work.

IF he is healthy, and that is a big IF considering how we will need him late this season, I think the vet minimum sounds about right.

I think your missing the point here. If we get our wish and he resigns for the VET MIN... Then how could it be a distraction? What would be different? He is still the same man and it would be the same team so how could it then become a distraction? I dont get it.

Either way, he has been over payed in years past due to his long bouts with injury. So if we resign him to the vet min, we keep his role the same (he would still be the team captain) so the only thing that would change is the money that he would be getting. The role wont be decreased.. for what? Its just like righting a wrong, he was out for so long and now he is repaying the team. Hes one of our best players, if not the best, and there is no reason to treat him like bo or DA because his talent is way over that of those two.

"missing back-to-backs, small injuries here and there hurt the chemistry and moral of the team?" Every player misses games here and there and it obviously doesnt affect chemistry, it just affects the on court performance but thats what happens to every other team. No difference here.

Dwight Howard = MVP
There won't be any problems if G-Hill gets the vet minimum. We need him even if he does miss back to back games and has small injuries. It's better than not having him at all.

It all depends on his health...it would be a distraction not knowing if your BEST player is going to be able to play, basically day to day for the entire season. His health is a big quesion mark. He might be the best player when he is feeling good.

The role would be decreased because his health is an unknown and his age. How does it feel cringing everytime one of our best players falls down wondering if "this is the one"? You act like the roles of Bo or Darrel is negative in some way. Even though the Pacers understand Darrel is still a very capable point guard, they also understand that he is no spring chicken. You've seen how Hill is better when he get some rest, right? As an older guy I can tell you...Age is a b**ch. The Magic would be wise to regulate Hill so he still has something left for the playoffs. I mentioned earlier that the Magic were riding him too much. Its time for the young guns to step up and do the majority of the work and bring in the gunslinger when you need him.

As I mentioned VET minimum and reduced roll...and I'm sticking to it!

Its not a distraction now... We dont know when he will be hurt, sit out of back to backs, etc. And we still win.

"His health is a big quesion mark. He might be the best player when he is feeling good." Of course we know that his health is a big question mark, it has been for years and us fans dont doubt that... your pointing out the obvious. And we know he is the best player for us when he is feeling good. No one is going against that... We all know this.

Um of course we cringe when he falls but that happens every year and how would next season be any different?? Please explain that to all of us...

Personally, I don't feel that Hill is the best player on this team - even when healthy.
