NOTE FROM THE FORUM OWNER:

We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. You can also visit the original MagicMadness Forum at http://orlandomagic.proboards.com.

Anyone catch this week's Midnight Magic?
Trevor said when he found out that Penny wasn't coming to Orlando, he called Penny to ask if it was ok if he picked #1 to wear.
I thought was a nice gesture. But what about T-Mac?

Well T-Mac is long gone... And Penny wore #1 with the Magic, Suns, and the Knicks, so it was his current number that Ariza was asking to use.

Also...Ariza said he was a big Penny fan growing up...he never mentioned T-Mac. Plus Penny's the original #1. Hopefully Ariza won't fall into the curse of players wearing #1 for the Magic.

All players that have worn that number for us have had ugly exits...

Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway - became a pre-madona and led to the firing of BHill then became injury prone and was traded away by a very upset team.

Tracy McGrady - also became a pre-madona and didn't want to rebuild with a young Dwight Howard (how stupid!) so he demanded a trade to a team with a "true" big man.

Doug Christie - has to ask his wife for permission to scratch his balls. Evidently, she didn't like seeing him in the blue and white...bye bye Christie. he was the worst!...he just stop showing up! no reasoning or anything...

Trevor Ariza - hopefully he stops the curse of the #1's

Wow, I forgot Jackie Christie's husband.
I remember I got LB tickets as a gift for the Rockets vs Magic game for T-Mac's return to Orlando.
At that game a group of people took their T-Mac jerseys and put "CHRISTIE" over the "McGRADY" area of the jersey.

I totally agree. But lately he has been getting better every game by leaps and bounds. I wouldnt be suprised if next season he is one of our top scorers.

He seems like a Gerald Wallace type of player to me... will get you points, rebounds, blocks, steals, some assists, all while shooting a good percentage from the floor. An all around great player, someone that teammates love to play with.

Totally. Gerald Wallace seems like a fair comparison, but Ariza is an even more naturally gifted athlete. Wallace is wayyyy more seasoned though and less raw. I agree Ariza will be one of our top guys next year.

Well you can never find a perfect comparison, but i think Wallace is about as close as you will find.

No. I think it will be a wise decision to give him a long term contract.
