I'm just trying to enjoy the Rays' brief stint out of last place. I'm sure both the Rays and Yankees will end up in their usual roles by the end of the season. |

Okay, now we are well into the season, and BJ Upton is leading the AL in batting average, at .381. He's also leading in hitting with runners in scoring position. And the Rays are in second place in the AL East! |

The Devil Rays are a pretty cool team. And I'm a Yankees fan, hahaha. I just like their young hitters a lot, and BJ Upton is totally breaking out this season. Good thing I drafted him in one of my fantasy leagues! |

BJ Upton is having a great season. It doesn't mean it will continue for 162 games. Look like A-Rod. Mr. April is no where to be found in May and is struggling still in June. The Yanks always struggle and lose their cool. But they bounce back after the All-Star break. I like the Rays in the future. They should be a scary team in like 3-4 years. Young, Upton, Crawford, Baldelli, Kazmir. That's not that bad. |

Arguably our second best player, Akinori Iwamura has been nothing short of dominant when he's been in the lineup. He missed 20 games or so with a hamstring problem, but he's still batting .370, and he is by far our best fielding infielder. The guy is a cat, diving for loose balls and making laser throws to first. He's definitely worth all the millions we paid for him this offseason. |

So... when does the new Tampa Bay Rays thread open? When the new stadium opens?

Don't get too excited yet... they still haven't gotten the city to improve it, and there are a lot of people here in St. Pete who are very much opposed to it. And they've traded a way Delmon Young, who, in my opinion, is three seasons away from being an all-star. But that's life as a Ray... |

I know the stadium still has a ton of hurdles. That was just to see if the thread was going to be renamed. As for Young: At least we got someone with equal potential in a much-more-needed position in Matt Garza. And we signed Percy, who had a renaissance last year. I'd say we're sitting pretty good. |

I just don't want to see any more Jonny Gomes in right field. |

Jonny Gomes didn't really play the outfield at all last season. He looked so out of shape also. He was more of the DH role when he split it with Pena. |

I know. He only played the field when Young was given the night off. And when he was out there, he looked horrible. But now that we have traded away our right fielder, I hope we have a plan for replacing him - because I would hate to see Gomes become our full-time fielder. |

Didn't he also play LF when Carl Crawford was out for a few games in the middle of the year? |

I think so. It must have been unimpressive, though, cause I can't even remember it.

Yeah Jonny Gomes is a decent guy but he's still a solid bat in the lineup. The thing is though that Pena had a great season last year at DH so I doubt that Gomes gets any minutes there unless he does have to play the outfield which is going to be scary. I'm sure the D. Rays have some talent in that farm system of theirs that they want to get started playing at the major league level. |

Pena played first base just about every game last year... |
