The Dolphins really are looking impressive. The crowd was totally into the game yesterday, and the team was enthusiastic.

I don't think anyone was expecting them to knock off both the Patriots AND the Chargers.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Chad Pennington has made a comeback from a comeback.

The Miami Dolphins quarterback won The Associated Press 2008 NFL Comeback Player of the Year award Wednesday, the second time in three years Pennington has received the honor. He also earned it in 2006 while with the New York Jets.

Pennington is the first player in the 11 seasons of the award to win it twice.

This time, Pennington was coming back from being benched in New York during the 2007 season, then discarded this summer when the Jets acquired Brett Favre. Two years ago, Pennington returned from two rotator cuff operations in eight months in 2005 and led the Jets to the playoffs.

But his work this year in guiding the Miami turnaround from 1-15 to 11-5 and AFC East champion was the best of his career.

"I think in my experience over the last nine years is that when you're winning, you feel appreciated; when you're losing, it gets a little tough," he said. "That's just part of winning and losing, especially in this league because the stakes are high, a lot of eyes watching you, both individually and as a team.

"I don't think the appreciation level ever changes, you just have to understand that there's always going to be highs and lows. And it's always to the extreme because the middle of the road doesn't sail and it's not exciting. The extremes, that's what's exciting, and that's what everybody leans on."

The Dolphins needed to lean on Pennington as a leader as much as a passer. They rallied around his work ethic, his preparation and his cool demeanor in the toughest circumstances.

"He's vital to this team, he really is," coach Tony Sparano said. "With Chad coming in here and doing what he's done right now and bringing a bunch of people together, these young players, what he's brought to them from a leadership standpoint."

Pennington received 19 votes, 13 more than quarterbacks Kerry Collins of Tennessee and Jake Delhomme of Carolina. Another quarterback, Arizona's Kurt Warner, received four votes, as did his teammate, wide receiver Anquan Boldin. So did Tampa Bay wideout Antonio Bryant.

Two of Pennington's teammates also received votes: linebacker Joey Porter (3) and running back Ronnie Brown (1).

Also with one vote were San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers, Pittsburgh safety Ryan Clark and Baltimore tackle Willie Anderson.

Porter was among Pennington's biggest supporters for the award.

"He was our savior," Porter said. "He changed this whole team. He's not the one that's going to brag about it. He's just an old, humble country boy. So I'm going to brag for him."

Since my Cowboys are out of the playoffs(disgraceful performances the last two weeks!) I will be pulling for Miami in the playoffs. Miami in the AFC and whoever wins the Falcons/Cards game in the NFC.

Good Luck to you Dolphin Fans!

Damn....tough game for the Dolphins. Especially Pennington. Ed Reed is amazing! Every time he touches the ball he seems to score!

Wow, what an amazing season for our boys. Sad to see it end the way it did, with yet another loss in the playoffs to the Ravens, but at least things are looking up for the team in the future. Love Sparano and what Parcells and him have done.

For MagicmanEvan and the other Phins fans on the board, my annual Dolphins draft recap!

Let me start by saying I TOTALLY called the Dolphins going CB with their first pick in the other Florida teams thread. Hells yeah.

Pick 1: CB Vontae Davis. Grade: B+
Vontae is a great pick at the 25th spot and might be the best corner in the draft. The Phins had NO ONE starting next to Will Allen, so it was a need they filled well. Personality-wise, he is completely insane, so we'll have to see how he gels with the team.

Pick 2: QB/WR Pat White. Grade: A
WHOA! Did not see this pick coming. I was shocked, but nodded my head with understanding after realizing we now have a wildcat specialist guy who can run, pass, and receive. Teams will now have to plan for the wildcat twice as hard. Well done, Parcells and company.

Pick 3: CB Sean Smith. Grade: A+
Amazing, amazing value pick here as the phins got this guy in the late 2nd (after the cowboys shocked everyone and passed on him) when most people had the Phins drafting him in the FIRST ROUND! Yahoo had Sean Smith as the number one corner in the draft and #11 player overall...nuff said.

Pick 4: WR Patrick Turner. Grade: B
The Dolphins needed a WR and got one super later than expected. Taylor isn't by any means a great every down back, but with a team of short WRs he is the tall endzone threat the team needed. He could surprise some people.

Pick 5: WR Brian Hartline. Grade: F
I HATE this pick. Hartline was a major reach and if you google him you can actually see rather scandalous photos of him and his fiance. This marred a pretty good draft for me.

Pick 6: TE John Nalbone. Grade: C
Dolphins were pretty set at tight end so this must be for depth. My cousin went to Monmouth and it is a super small school. Sounds like a boom or bust here (seeing some of the guys my cousin dates, I'm guessing bust).

Pick 7: S Chris Clemons: Grade: B-
I liked Clemons from before the draft for two reasons: He seems like he fits Parcells system well and his name is close to where he went to school (Clemson).

Pick 8: T Andrew Gardner: Grade: D
The team loves big guys and this guy is 6 foot 6 and over 300 pounds...He also looks like some sort of uber-nerd from his profile, and those don't last long. If there is one guy that can get this to work, it's O-Line wiz Sparano.

Pick 7: LB JD Folstom: Grade: B
7th round linebacker equals special teams player. The Dolphins' special teams last year was dreadful. Good pick.

Overall: The Dolphins had a decent draft with their top 4 picks coming as people that could help the team in a HUGE, HUGE way. The picks after that get quite dicey, which worries me. This year, the Dolphins get an A for their first picks, and a C for their later picks, which averages out to a solid B from me.

Your thoughts?

Wow, looking back at the draft analysis I was dead on with Smith and Davis, who both started almost the entire year, but completely wrong on the Pat White and Brian Hartline picks (as were most people).

Excited already for this year's draft! Phins pick #12 this year. Hoping for either LB McClain or WR Bryant with that pick.

WOW Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins!!!!!!!!!!!

I am ecstatic. So very happy with the pick.

Now that this wipes my boy Dez Bryant off of the Dolphins draft board, the next best options are as follows:

1) Eric Berry
2) Brandon Graham
3) Earl Thomas
4) Dan Williams

I expect one of those names to be called at #12. If we go someone else, perhaps a CJ Spiller (Which would be amazing) or Jason Pierre Paul or Sergio Kindle (both of whom I'd be less than happy with), it would be a surprise.
