Houston has one of the best offenses in the nation, so not shocking there.
51-31 looks bad, but we were leading at halftime and tied 31-31 in the 3rd quarter and it went downhill from there.
It's frustrating as hell when you can't get the breaks we had last year. :(

Ratings like that don't mean much. I can guarantee you that there offense isn't as good as many many many other teams out there. However, their stats are bloated because of their schedule (Rice, Tulane, Grambling, OK State, UM, Lousiana Lafayette, Southern Miss, Texas El-Paso, UCF, etc). If you don't play good defenses, of course their offense will be rated highly.

Regardless, that had to be very frustrating to watch. I thought UCF was going to have at least a .500 season, but now it's not looking too likely. Oh well, theres always next year!

USF just popped West Virginia one in their home stadium. Taking down the #7 team in the country, with ease :D. What a day for USF football. This is the second straight year they have knocked off a top 10 team.

And, I think, UCF won ;)

Yea that was crazy. I know they had an alright team but didnt expect them to win against West Virginia. Nice win. But they definitely didnt do it with ease, they barely won 8-)

I wouldn't say we "barely won." ;) We went up 7-6 and never gave them the lead back. We were up by two scores late in the game before giving up one big play and letting it get back to a single score game. Then when they got the ball back, we shut them down and picked them off.

We set all their lows for yards in a game, held them to half of their rushing average for the year, completely shut down the #2 running back in the country, sacked their quarterback 5 times (he had only been sacked 8 times all season), forced several turnovers, and then we passed on them and ran on them and dominated time of possession. We broke their streak of home wins, and home games of 40 points or more. USF smacked them around. :D Just like they did to Louisville (ranked #9 at the time) last year. It's just a shame we lost to Rutgers on a dropped two point conversion or we'f be a ranked team right now.

USF has recieved votes in the AP poll and Harris poll as a top 25 team :D

...And, I feel compelled to add, USF Defensive End George Selvie won National Defensive Player of the week awards (8 tackles, 3.5 for loss, 1 sack, 1 fumble recovery, 1 touchdown).

Matt Grothe, QB for USF (and 12th in the nation in overall offense) was named one of College Gameday's "Players of the week" and won an honorary helmet sticker in the Gameday studio.

The touchdown pass from Grothe to Ean Randolph is one of four finalists for the Pontiac game changing performance of the week. You can vote for it here: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/contests/pontiac/index

You can say the Bulls are an "alright" team as much as you want, but you can't ignore the fact that USF is just a step or two away (or a running back away) from being a very good team in college football.

Good way to end the year for UCF.
New stadium is going to be fun next year. Hopefully it won't be wasted as we need a great turnaround.

USF got 8 votes in the final AP poll. Not bad for a ten year old program, huh?

They play in the Birmingham Bowl on Dec 23.

you guys realize that UCF BBall has the #2 seed in their conference touney which starts tomorrow (I know Adamos knows) If Memphis somehow gets upset, we have a chance to go dancing for the 3rd time in 5 years. And to think, Coach Speraw still doesnt have a long term deal.

To be honest, I don't really follow UCF basketball... But I hear they have a decent team.

Who, of note, have they beaten this year?

Well there goes that dream....we were "upset" by the powerhouse of Rice who we already beat twice in the regular season. ....Oh well, we still got an outside chance to make it to the NIT

A little more USF news, for those who are interested.

Steele solid on the Bulls
Posted June 22, 2007 by Brett McMurphy
Updated Jun 22, 2007 at 10:33 PM

Ever since the University of South Florida moved to Division I-A in football, the Bulls have not received much respect from the national media (remember when Sports Illustrated rated USF before the 2001 season as the nation’s second-worst team and the Bulls finished 8-3). This year, however, more of the national types are jumping on the Bulls’ bandwagon.

However, none believe in the Bulls as much as Phil Steele. In Steele’s 2007 College Football Preview magazine he writes – and this is not a misprint – “Two of my first sets of power ratings that I had completed were calling for [USF] to go undefeated.”

Steele then explains his conference rankings talked him out of predicting an unbeaten season for USF, then adds: “despite those rankings, USF could still end up in the National Title game.”

That’s right: the BCS Title game (that’s the Sugar Bowl Jan. 7 in New Orleans if you want to go ahead and purchase your plane tickets now). Steele ranks USF as his No. 5 surprise team (Florida State is first, followed by Virginia Tech, Penn State and Ohio State).

While USF playing for the national title is a long shot, USF fans should know that Steele’s preseason magazine has been the most accurate preseason magazine over the past eight years combined, including ranking first in the 2006, 2004, 2001 and 1999 seasons, according to Stassen.com, which lists each magazine’s success rate since 1993.

The Bulls going from Birmingham to Bourbon Street in one year? Phil Steele says it’s a real possibility.

That's right, the most accurate college football analyst out there is predicting USF to be a top 5 team next year. It should be a lot of fun... I hope you UCF guys come down to USF for the UCF-USF game. By the way, there's only two more years (including this coming season) of this "rivalry" left before USF no longer has to participate in games against C-USA opponents. It's a shame, because playing at UCF is one more game us Bulls get to go to. Oh well, when our Thanksgiving rivalry with Miami starts, we'll just have to caravan down there!
