S-O-U-T-H F-L-O-R-I-D-A, South Florida, South Florida, GOOOOO BULLS!!

I drove up for the game, and what a game it was! I gotta hand it to UCF, they played with a lot of heart and did a lot better than I expected. UCF needs a new kicker, and USF needs a new punter :(

We had ourselves a nice little party in the Citrus Bowl tonight!!

Go Bulls! 3-0!

We shot ourselves in the foot vs. USF; the Southern Miss game was even worse with Moffett giving up an endzone INT for a TD and Kevin Smith fumbling at the goalline, BUT DAMN IT WE END OUR LOSING STREAK AGAIN WITH MARSHALL!!! :D  :) 8-)

Michael Torres is still the worst kicker in football, but damnit can he be clutch from 22 yards out. :(

We're 2-3 (1-1 in C-USA) and we've got some momentum heading into next Friday at home vs. Pittsburgh.
WE'LL GET OUR 3RD STRAIGHT GAME ON ESPN 2, AND WE'LL BE READY FOR AN UPSET SPECIAL!!!

That was a great finish tonight. It was nice seeing the Knights play on national television two weeks in a row.

I wouldn't mind seeing it continue. It's fun to drive up there and watch the games in Orlando, and I'm sure the UCF fans like coming down here and watchin the Knights play in Tampa. So, for that reason alone, I would like it to continue.

USF's coach, Jim Leavitt, has said that he doesn't want that to be our "rival." Apparently, he doesn't think we should make a team in a lesser conference (C-USA) our rival. He wants to push us into a top tier team, and would rather see us develop a rivalry with a top level team (i.e. Louisville, who we killed last year).

From a fan's standpoint, I would love to see it continue.

Great game, great ending....Moffitt almost blew it again on 4th and 4, right before I was going to throw my remote control through the TV, but magically escaped and threw for a 1st down...

regarding the S. FL game, I think it should continue....it will draw a huge crowd every year....but I see why Levitt wouldnt want it played...but give UCF about 5 years and I think they will be a consistant top 25 team, while S FL will still be an average team in the Big LEast

UCF will never be a top 25 team (at least consistently) unless they get out of that conference. They've had some good recruits, but they will never be a consistent top 25 team unless they are able to consistently lure in top prospects. And that won't happen until they get rid of the "C-USA" in front of their name. Or, UCF needs to start beating some big name teams. Losing HUGE to Florida didn't help their cause that much. While their last game was exciting, squeaking out a win over Marshall isn't the kind of game that brings in top prospects.

You can call it the Big LEast all you want, but you know just as well as I do that it would kill C-USA 49 out of 50 times.

Here is my opinion about continuing the series. The Big 3 will never see USF and UCF as the equal or as rivals. UF will never grant either a return home game, FSU pretty much is the same way, and UM only will grant return homes games thatcan be a few years out and based on how well USF and UCF draws at the Orange Bowl.

A UCF-USF Rivalry will give both programs the identity its both crave in the state. I really do not put much thought into BCS or Non BCS debate. As for CUSA, I think it is a nice conference that is just notch below the BE. CUSA have provided UCF with the geographical rivals it did not have in the past. The BE had provideD USF with a BCS Conference.

On a side note, NC beat both UM and FSU in football, yet those schools does not considered NC a rival. Miss State have beaten UF 3 times in football dating back to 1992, UF does not considered them a rival. Ole Miss have beaten UF twice, UF does not consider them a rivalry.

Both teams struggles with attendence, both have alumni in the opposing team's market, and games have brought over 90,000 fans (45,000 in Tampa) and (46,000 in Orlando). This game can reach 65,000 fans, I think that if the series continue that the games in Orlando will be played in the Renovated Citrus Bowl.

I wholeheartedly agree. I'm in favor of continuing the rivarly. It's the USF coach who would rather see us make our rival a more "well-known" opponent.

Yea, I agree. I wasn't suggesting that just because we beat Louisville last year, it makes it a rivalry. It's just that "upsets" are often the beginnings of rivalries. You can bet if USF beats them this year in Kentucky, they will have the USF game circled on their calender in future years. Coach Levitt has said that he would prefer to have Louisville as our hated rival, more so than the Knights.

Personally, though, I love the USF-UCF rivalry.

I agree with you a 100% on this. But in the last 15 years UCF came from a 1AA football program, to 1A independant, then to the MAC, then to Conference USA East champion, so there is no reason to think that they are stuck in CUSA.
There have been plenty of rumors of the Big East splitting up their conference and adding 2 more teams...most "experts" predict these teams to be UCF and Memphis. Now if this happends, hopefully it will just be in football, because we would get our asses kicked in basketball, however our baseball team is consistently in the top 25 in the nation

Yeah I admit, I cant dog on the Big East like i thought I would be able to...I actually think that they are better then the ACC in football which I thought would NEVER be true. But beating C-USA 49 out of 50 times?!?!?!? Common man you gotta give us more credit then that. We will see CUSA vs BE again on Friday....tough matchup for us though.

I hope this year game and last year game have changed Jim Leavitt's opinion about making this an annual series. I am quite sure that USF have learned from alot of UCF's mistakes of being a D-1a team, but not experienced some of the pains that UCF encountered of being a D-1a team. UCF went to D-1A hoping to become a member of the BE, turned down offers to CUSA and Sunbelt conferences in the process. After giving Nebraska a scare in the 1997 season, alot of the mid to lower BCS teams, dropped UCF off their schedules. Therefore making it harder for UCF to schedule games, in which they had to scheduled games with the top BCS teams with no return home games or an occassional 2 for 1 deal or 3 for 1 deal. Which led to them not bowl eligible or not enough impressive to bowl scouts. This led them to joining the MAC for football only, which provide them a 8 conference game schedule with 3 BCS teams as non conference games.

Once the ACC raided the BE, it was common knowledge that the BE was going to raid CUSA. USF was fortunate to be in CUSA, because the BE was looking to keep a presence in FLorida. A move that came back to haunt UCF. Had UCF joined the Sunbelt Conference, at least they would had a track record for bowl games with attendence and traveling fans before the ACC' Raid. Another move that came back to haunt UCF. Loading up with alot of the top BCS teams as nonconference games kill the morale of UCF's fanbase. USF just made the right moves at the right time which help them in the long run.

George O'Leary said that UCF is getting out that business of loading with top BCS schools. He stated that UCF would only play teams that offered 1 for 1 deals, that goes for everyone except D-1aa teams. Therefore that would eliminate the top BCS teams, who only offered 1 for 0 deals.

UCF finally have people in Athletics Dept who knows what college sports is about and with a backbone to stand up for UCF, when teams try to bully UCF into an unfavorable contract and demands. Steve Sloan and Coach K sucked and caved in too much for the Big Boys.

UCF falls to 2-5 with a loss to Rice (3-5). Going into it, I thought UCF had a fairly good chance to win this one... They piled up a ton of offense, but just couldn't stop Rice. Next few games against Houston and ECU should be ones UCF can win.

Meanwhile, USF (5-2), riding two easy wins over UCONN and UNC, plays at Cincinatti tonight on ESPN. It's the only football game on, so watch it!
