We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. All the losing, combined with his dislike for Weisbrod -- the two had several heated incidents -- and McGrady ultimately asked to be traded.

The fact he actually wanted to leave, he said, should speak volumes about his unhappiness at the end of his tenure in Orlando. McGrady grew up 45 minutes away in Auburndale, wore his Penny Hardaway jersey to Magic games as a teenager and most of his family still leaves in nearby Polk County.

"It still makes me mad to know that I had to leave home," he said. "I really don't think people understand how much it meant to me to be playing at home and how much it hurt me to leave there. But it was all because of one person."

That person, Weisbrod, is gone, having left last spring in what was believed to be a forced resignation. Also gone are Cuttino Mobley, Kelvin Cato and Francis -- the three players Orlando acquired in the blockbuster trade for McGrady.

Again, he watches the franchise that he rooted for as a kid, the franchise that helped make him a NBA star, and he wonders about its direction.

Through the disappointment, he is able to see a sliver of promise.

"Obviously, it's different people running the team from the guy who traded me," McGrady said. "They're doing a real good job of clearing cap space."

I'm almost 100% sure I'm reading way too much into this, but is it possible that McGrady was hinting that he might be enticed to come back to the Magic sometime in the future? He did not directly say it, nor has he ever said anything about it, but the article mentions his love for the team growing up, and then McGrady is quoted as saying it was all because of one person that he left town (who obviously isn't with the organization anymore).

Yeah and I think I know who that one person is: Tracy McGrady

Don't forget his actions during the 21 win season. Everyone gets on Francis because of the way he acted because of losing and that was nothing compared to what McGrady did.

Im sure he wishes now that Weis is gone that he should of stayed with Dwight especially the way the Rockets suck. I think the Magic might think twice about getting him back because of his back problems. He's a hell of a player now but I don't think he'll be the same caliber player 2 years from now.

I wouldn't expect the Magic to try to sign him later on, nor do I really want them to at this point. I just feel like maybe McGrady was hinting that with all that capspace freed up, and with Weisbrod gone, maybe the Magic would try to go after him.

I wouldnt mind bringing him back. I dont know how the fans would take to him coming back, but he wouldnt have to be relied on as heavily as he was before. We will have so many other options by the time he would come back, it would be so much easier for him.

I agree he was hinting. I wouldnt want him as his back has been only worse since his days here. I still like TMac and wouldnt mind if we brought him aboard at some point in the future when he isnt as expensive.

Well, this gives me a new perspective. I guess he really only did just hate Weisbrod. Now he is giving us props for building a team, like everyone pretty much has been doing. I dont think he will ever be back on the team, but I am not rooting against him anymore. That said, I hope he has a terrible game today, but just for today

remember, when mcgrady left, he didnt say that he would "never" play for the magic again. he said that he would "never" play for them if weisbrod was still running things and he isnt anymore. i wouldnt be surprised to see mcgrady come back to the magic after his contract is up.

i would welcome him back. i dont know if other fans could, but i think with all the things going on in houston and the bad season so far, has got him thinking what he could be doing with dwight here in o town.

Dwight Howard = MVP
I hope T-Mac comes back. I think we should sign him. We need a SG. Thats the only thing we're missing.

LINEUP:

PG: Nelson
SG: T-Mac
SF: Hill/Turk
PF: Howard
C: Milicic

Now thats a nice starting lineup. We would kill!

I wonder how the fans in Houston would feel about this quote? This guy is a headcase and can never make up his mind about anything. We've cut the most recent cancer from the team and there is no need in bringing back an old one, IMO.

McGrady and Howard... What could have been
How can the Magic get him? he isn't a free agent next year or the year after. So McGrady can't be serious when he says that. Magic are going to be 18 million under the cap. and I don't think they are going to spend the money until the year after. Then they will be 50 millon under the cap. I think they need to resign the 30 million to Darko, Jameer, Dwight.

This is like music to my ears, i wish he would come back....before that season we all loved T-Mac and i still do. He brought excitement to this team and im not bailing him out of this but put urself in his shoes.... team has a 21 win season and even when ur giving it 120% u still lose... u'd be surprised how many of us would do the same thing he did. If he came back with dwight and the rest of the fellas giving it 110% i dont think we would lose 61 games then he'd give as much effort in the 82nd game of the season as he did in the 1st game of the season. I hope he comes back, and i believe a lot of u guys do too ur just mad bcuz of his last season, which everyone is entitled to be and i dont blame u, but i think we'd all be better off if we gave him another chance.

Drafting Marbury + Foyle = Championship. \o/
MM, i'm pretty sure you're not reading more than T-Mac wanted to be read by saying that stuff...

When his contract ends in Houston (3 or 4 years from now? ), if he wants to come back for a MLE salary and if he realises he wouldn't be the star on the team, then why not? lol
If he's expecting to be offered a max deal in 4 years, then too bad Me-Mac, because he isn't going to get one from the Magic.

Magic aren't going to wait 4 years for T-Mac to comeback. Way to much time, and the fans wouldn't be satisfied due to the fact that Magic are waiting 2 years. and fans are still mad. Then talking about 4 years. Oh man all the fans would be mad
