You are correct. While McGrady is one of the best in the league, Houston isn't doing anything and might not even make the playoffs. McGrady's back is a ticking time bomb. His recurring back problems are going to get worse. The Magic got the players mentioned PLUS two things that ESPN writer neglected to mention......CAP SPACE & HOPE FOR THE FUTURE.....we had neither with McGrady. |

McGrady and Howard... What could have been
|
umm sir, are you forgetting that the 8th spot is up for grabs. Out of Utah, Sacramento, Golden State, and the Lakers. Who is the more likely chance to get the 8th spot. I would say Houston. Because there by far is better than any of those teams. and they are 4 games out of it. Don't count houston out yet. Then if they do get the 8th seed. They will be playing the Mavericks. The team they nearly beat last year. Spurs, I think they could handle them too. |

and then after they beat the spurs AND mavs in the playoffs, you will wake up and realize that it was all just a dream. you cant be serious if you think the rockets have any shot at getting out of the first round. they do have a shot at the 8th spot, but they arent going anywhere in the playoffs. we got rid of tmac and his back problems, and now we have cap space, potential, and youth. were a team of the future. im not saying that were going to be contenders in the near future, but we have as good a shot as any if our players fulfill their potential. |

The reason the Rockets aren't doing anything and might not make the playoffs isnt because of T-Mac. The Rockets lost every game when T-Mac doesnt play. I think their 0-15 or sumthin like that without T-Mac. If T-Mac played every game Im sure they would prolly be the 8th seed. But you cant say the Rockets aren't doing anything and might not make the playoffs cuz look at us. We're doing even worse then the Rockets. But I agree about how we have cap space and a future, cuz we never had that with T-mac. |

Exactly Tony. But TMac missing games and them not winning is still partly TMac's fault. It's kindda like us Magic fans blaming GHill for getting injured alot and not being on the court where we need him. The cap space is a good thing for us, but what we do with it is more important. And that is what I'm excited to see - I'm trusting Otis will not screw it up. He has done great so far. |

Yea but its not T-Macs fault that hes injured. Same with G-Hill. Im sure that T-Mac and G-Hill dont wanna be injured, they rather play and help the team but they cant. Cuz without T-Mac the Rockets arent jack. But I know what your saying. Cuz fans blame the player for not playing but its really not the players fault cuz they wanna play. |

Good article. I always hated when people looked at the T-mac trade like that. John Weisbrod is the one who made the trade. Plus, what we have now, 24 million in capspace (Christies contract and Pennys contract), two young prospects (Darko and Ariza) and a pass first PG (Arroyo) is along the lines of what we should have got in the first place for T-mac. Instead we got two chuckers and a lazy center, all three overpaid. That was an example of how to stay mediocre. |

Sorry but i have to disagree with u. Most of u think that houston sinks but have u looked at there season, they are way better then there record shows. After most people predicted houston to be one of the top four teams with the mavs, SA, and Phx they got a sever case of the injury bug. There two best players in yao and t-mac were out for a long period of time. Then key role players and bench players such as sura, anderson, Howard, barry, alston, and deke missed a few games. So guys don't make look like they really suck because they don't. And did u even watch the playoff series that houston and the mavs played. The rockets where beating the mavs 4-3 at one point, but due to the lack of help for t-mac (other then Yao at times), no howard, and mistakes which made them unable to close out games is why they lost the series. So the houston rockets are more then capable of playing and beating the Mavs. And if the rockets played the spurs, not saying they will win or lose, and were completely healthy could make the games comptive there would be no blowouts ( see t-mac's 15 points in 30 seconds aginst the spurs). When the rockets are completely healthy they are up there with the top team in the west. And i don't understand all this t-mac hate, i just think fans just wanted to much from him when you should have been asking more for from your GM. I know people are on him because he was not trying at times in the last season he was here but who would, the team sucked and nobody was around him. I could not name one superstar today that was in the situations that t-mac was in, i could only name a few that come close (If there was their team sucks). There is kobe but he has Odom and there is Pierce but he has davis or Wally, there is nobody who compares to t-mac's last season in orlando, he had nobody. Alot of people gave the man alot of grief that season but he still gave u 28 to 30 points and became the damm scoring champ what else do u want from the man, there is just so much u can do with a bad team. And then alot of people give him grief for having a fake injury but it was easy to see that that mangment give t-mac the rest the year off when they knew they weren't going to make the playoffs and they didn't what him to kill their chances at tanking the season and getting the number one pick. It was kinda funny when they did clinch the worest recored, they won the rest of their games, which was like 3. But instead of putting all the blame on t-mac put the blame on the gm. They should have built a better team around him, instead of assuming that Grant hill was going to play assume he was not and get some help for t-mac. You never trade away top 5 talent (maybe due to the expection of age), you build around them, that is what the gm forgot and this is the result. Prime example KG they never built a decent team around him and the one year they did they went far. Due to stuiped moves by the gm starting with the trade of Mike Miller this team has been going down hill and now have reached the bottom. Now their is nowhere to go expect for up, now the magic have a very bright future and but they have to learn form the past. If dwight were ever to be in the same position that t-mac was and was crying out for help, they better not ignore or trade him, they better get him some damm help. |
