As expected, the Orlando Magic this morning announced that the team has waived Penny Hardaway before he even stepped foot on the court for the Magic.

Hardaway was acquired on Wednesday from the New York Knicks, along with forward Trevor Ariza, for Steve Francis.

The Magic are hoping to use Hardaway's expiring contract to sign some free agents this summer.

What a great ending to the Penny story. Dissed us and left for another team. Came back and we said "have a good retirement, biatch!"

Drafting Marbury + Foyle = Championship. \o/
I actually feel sorry for this... He was (and still is) my favourite all time player for the Magic...
I wish we could have had one last sighting of Penny, in a retro jerseys night... One last picture of Penny with the pinstripes.
Oh well, too bad...

Ditto. :D 8-) Penny is still a god to me, and it's not Penny's fault for getting PO'd at the media and them pushing him over the edge and leaving his anger on B-Hill :(

Also, Penny physically can't play, he's still hurt which makes more sense that we waive him. :(

Penny cant play. Theres no point of playing him if he sucks. It must suck for him cuz his a** isnt gonna be getting paid anymore.

Well the Pistons picked up Vin Baker....There is hope...Maybe Shawn Kemp would also find a home somewhere. :|

They mentioned this on 740 The Team:

During pregrame warm up, have Brian Hill go center court and get the arena's attention. Say that he has Penny Hardaway's contract in his hands then promptly shred it to bits in the most grandoise matter. Then mention at this point Penny has been waived by the team.

Could you imagine the eruption of cheers??

Vin Baker went to the Clippers, not the Pistons.

I agree. He is still my favourite player, however, we all know that this was for the best.
