We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. VS ![]() WHAT - Orlando Magic(19-34) vs Seattle SuperSonics(21-34) WHEN - 2/24, 7:00 PM WHERE - TD Waterhouse Centre TV - FxSea, SUN ROAD/HOME RECORDS - SuperSonics - 9-20 on the road; Magic - 13-13 at home LAST MEETING - Jan. 11; SuperSonics, 113-104. At Seattle, Lewis had 45 points to lead the SuperSonics, who lost Allen eight minutes into the game after he was ejected for a fight with Dooling ------------------------------------------------------ PROBABLE STARTERS SuperSonics - F Lewis, F Collison, C Petro, G Ridnour, G Allen Magic - F Augmon, F Howard, C Battie, G Stevenson, G Dooling ------------------------------------------------------ Though they just lost their best player, the Orlando Magic can't get much worse. Coming off a respectable performance in their first game after trading Steve Francis, the Magic look to halt their worst losing streak in nearly two years when they face the Seattle SuperSonics. Orlando lost its top scorer and assists leader by dealing Francis to New York on Wednesday for Penny Hardaway and Trevor Ariza. By trading Francis for Hardaway's expiring contract, the Magic get salary cap relief after this season and will be in even better position when Grant Hill's deal expires next year. "We'll miss Steve in a lot of ways," Orlando assistant general manager Otis Smith said. "We'll miss the passion he brought for the game, we'll miss the energy he brought for the game, but I think we'll be better off in the future." Even with a lineup that included Francis, who was averaging 16.2 points and 5.7 assists, the Magic have been among the worst teams in the Eastern Conference all season. They currently own the league's fifth-worst record. Orlando has lost eight in a row, its longest slide since dropping 13 straight from March 13-April 10, 2004, and has won only once in 13 games since a season-best five-game win streak in mid-January. The absence of Francis did not seem to negatively affect the team Wednesday even though the result was another loss. The Magic shot nearly 53 percent from the field and led by as many as 13 points in the third quarter against Atlantic Division-leading New Jersey, only to lose 96-93 when Carlos Arroyo's 3-pointer rimmed out at the buzzer. "I don't know if it was the trade, but we were more focused," Magic guard said DeShawn Stevenson said. "Everybody went out there and played together as a team." Orlando also was playing without Jameer Nelson (sprained right foot), Hedo Turkoglu (sprained left ankle) and Hill (lower abdominal strain). While it's unlikely any of those three players will be able to play, Ariza should be in uniform for the Magic. He feuded with Knicks coach Larry Brown and averaged only 4.6 points per game in limited minutes this season. Hardaway won't see any minutes this time around with Orlando. A perennial All-Star during his six seasons with the Magic, Hardaway only was acquired due to his expiring contract and will not play for the team, in part because of past problems with coach Brian Hill. "We will have a conversation with Penny Hardaway, but Penny Hardaway will never put on an Orlando Magic uniform," Smith said. Orlando faces a Seattle team which snapped a four-game losing streak with a 114-109 win over Atlanta on Wednesday. It was just the second win in 10 games for the SuperSonics, who had lost seven straight on the road. "We sorely needed to win a game," Sonics coach Bob Hill said. "That was a team win. We got a lot of good performances from a lot of people." Ray Allen had 33 points, Rashard Lewis overcame a sore ankle to score 25, Chris Wilcox added 16 off the bench and Luke Ridnour had 12 assists to go with his 15 points. Seattle shot a season-best 57 percent from the field, made 18-of-20 at the foul line and hit 6-of-10 from 3-point range |

Looks like Ariza will see some time tonight. Also, I wonder if there is any bad blood between Allen & Dooling still. Should be interesting to see if anything happens with them |

Dooling should abuse Ridnour. Magic should take advantage of that matchup all night. |

I'm expecting some Latin flavor from here-on-out. Plus, the fans will enjoy seeing Heart & Hustle Part Dos (and yes, Bo will be around for the second go-around). ![]() Hopefullly our fans at The 'House tonight will start some "WE WANT DARKO" chants if B-Hill still refuses to play him (deadline is over, first home game, all of our new guys need to play). |

Well, this is my first game rooting for Orlando. I am a Pistons fan, but I have been waiting for years now to see Darko get into some meaningful games. Arroyo is also a favorite of mine who I hated to see leave Detroit. I am hoping Orlando starts winning and gets back into the playoff hunt. And I hope to see Darko an Arroyo be part of that. Also, I am hoping Hill gets healthy as cheering again for Hill would be fun too. So tonight, even if Darko and Arroyo do not play much, I will be rooting for a Magic victory. BEAT SEATTLE!!!!! |
