We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. Darko should be starting he needs to grow and its not like we are trying to win a championship right now we can afford to start him now. But it is true that he must learn the system and become addapted to the team....if he doesnt play in like the next 5 games then he can have something to talk about |

Fair enough. I do not think he should be starting though. There would be no reason to start him over Battie, when Darko has done nothing thus far to earn that spot. |

Darko should start when he hsa proven that he is our best player at that position, which he has yet to do. If you can give me another valid reason why he should be starting, Id love to hear it. All that has been said so far is that he "needs to grow." If that is the case, then, I suppose Diener and Kasun have valid cases for being a starter, as they both need time to grow as well... |

Thats the PERFECT way to put it. What has Darko done in the NBA for him to have the right to start over Battie who has been doing great this season for us. Darko hasnt proven anything that he can just come in here and start, REGARDLESS of our record, in place of someone who has Earned his starting spot and produced for this Magic team |

Yes, but thats irrelevant. He doesnt deserve to start, especially over Battie. You start the best players you have, regardless of whether you are 30-0 or 0-30. You must earn your starting spot on any team. What does that say about your team if you bench a guy who has given his all every second hes been on the court all season, and has never complained about anything, and replace him with a young, unproven guy who is not nearly as good as Battie in the first place? Thats just not right. Let Milicic get some playing time and see if he can't prove himself deserving of that starting spot. |

im not saying give him every start but what I am saying is that we should give him a little playing time with a start evey once and a while why I said we are not trying to win right now is that it should be ok to do that because we can afford to take the chance |

Your missing the point, He DOESN'T DESERVE TO START. He hasn't earned anything. Regardless if we can afford to take a chance or not, Not only is tony delivering it would be disrespectful to give his starting spot, which he worked hard to get a earned, to an unproven 20 year old player. Everyone starts out equal, You come in and earn a spot. doesn't matter where you were picked in the draft. |

^^^^ well said. i completely agree. darko shouldnt be starting yet and you shouldnt be putting him in and out of the starting line up either. thats the last thing you should do. he should be getting minutes though. hopefully hes earned them in practice yesterday. |

same here, i agree. darko should not start. hes a bench player for the time bieng, at least untill he outplays battie.exactly. this is basically darko's first season. would you want to start and unproven rookie over a grizzled vet? no. hes not ready, doesnt know plays, and is a turnover machine. plus if you give in to the wants and demands then he will turn out to be soft, getting what he wants all the time. let him sit and figure out that he needs to work his butt of everyday for the time during games. |

Im also wondering if maybe the small amount of minutes is a signal from Brian Hill for Milicic to really have to work hard to get minutes. Darko might have assumed he was hopping in the games just by switching zip codes. He DID come to the first practice with a several sunburn after falling asleep on the beach (true), so Hill might be trying to whip him into shape. I dunno. Maybe im just making excuses cuz i want to see him play. |

Agreed. I don't think this is an issue of starting, but Darko getting some minutes. It can be 3 or 5 minutes, just give him meaningful minutes. What is not OK is him sitting on the bench and doing squat. |
