Batman has been struggling lately, so the starting job might be open for Darko to take.

I still think you need Dooling off the bench and DeShawn still starting because DeShawn has been consistent all season.

Here's what I potentially see in a few weeks if G-Hill and Jameer are healthy:
C-Darko, Battie, Kasun
PF-Dwight, Hedo, Garrity, Outlaw
SF-Hill, Ariza, Augmon (I give all the props in the world to Plastic Man).
SG-DeShawn, Dooling
PG-Arroyo, Jameer, Diener

I didn't forget Hedo, I stuck him at PF (he can play PF, SF, SG). He's gonna be a main backup off the bench no matter what position he plays. :D 8-)

As a Greek, I have nothing against Hedo. Our hate of Turkey is mostly for their government, and probably their dumba** soccer hooligans.

That, in my opinion, is the point that everyone is missing. Darko does not deserve to come in and have a starting role, or even a large role, at first. He must earn that through hard work in practice and good effort during the game time he gets. He is not exempt from the "bench ladder"... he must work his way up, just like every other young player. I truly believe he will. He will gain himself more and more minutes, and eventually I think he will be a starter in this league. Just because we arent a good team this year doesnt mean were just going to throw him into a starting role. Being a high draft choice guarnatees you nothing but money, I hope he does not lose sight of this. He needs to stay focused, listen to what Hill tells him, and he will find himself having a significant contribution soon enough.

I just can't agree with Lazy on this one. NBA is about making the playoffs. Orlando has no chance of making the playoffs this year unless they play Darko now and extensively. And Darko has to turn out to be that good. (Which I believe he is.) The only way you can find out what your team is really made of is to go for it all

Obviously, Hill has to stay healthy if you are going to shoot for no more than 4 losses the rest of this season. Advise, don't listen to Hill. A player who has been on such a long layoff will continue to get injured if his minutes are not kept to a minimum. Play Hill only just enough to win games, not one minute more. Use him like a treasure that you absolutely do not want to lose for another game.

And you are going to have to believe in Dooling. Plan on starting Arroyo, Dooling, Hill, Howard, and Darko the remainder of this year. Thats 3 decent ball handlers feeding two capable bigs.

You got Stevenson, Battie, and Ariza, three guys who can play D coming off the bench, so you should not lose leads while your bench is in.

Soon enough Turk and Nelson come back, and that will be the depth you need for your rotation in the playoffs.

Your 11th and 12th guys for the playoff roster. Kasun for one. The other lets see at playoff time.

Well, like I said, go for it. Worst can happen is that you drop out of the playoff picture despite your best shot. But do not just quietly fade away without a try.

GHill is like precious china. He is great to look at (on the court and off it) but FRAGILE!

G-Hill cant get injured again for the rest of the season. I just realized against the Sonics how much we need him. But for him not to get injured for the rest of the season is too much to ask from him. Thats almost impossible. But hopefully he can stay healthy cuz hes been a factor for us.

I agree. I think we should keep him. He will be like the big ol' brother to the young guns. I am sure he'd agree to cut down his salary at the end of his contract.

He's said it in the past that he owes us and would love to re-sign for a much lesser amount (hopefully the vet. minimum). :D

On the comment of it being impossible for G-Hill to stay healthy and us having no shot at the playoffs:
IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and G-Hill has become more vocal these past few days, so he and Batman are leading the way as the vet. leaders of this team. :D Dwight will get in there eventually.

Darkofan, just saw your reply. I think where we differed, and it is not that much, is that I don't think it would be good to just hand a newcomer the starting job. The rest of the team has gotta be put out about that.

But what I am thinking that if Darko got significant playing time to prove himself, which he has already, then he can get promoted sooner to the starting spot and the team will accept it. We need Battie and others to know that they are not going to get tossed onto the bench just because an outsider comes along. Darko and Carlos need to be insiders and then step into the jobs when they are ready.

He is close but the team has to believe that he deserves it so that they will play as a team. He is already getting significant minutes, meaning playing during the fourth quarter in crunch time. How great is that!!!

Close!! Soon!!
