It's not that they have too many SF. Like I said before, the Hawks have a lot of combo players. Marvin Williams and Al Harrington can play PF as well.

There's a difference of getting criticism when drafting a position that you already have depth at and not drafting where your need is.

For example: 1984 draft-

Portland Trailblazers select..... Sam Bowie?

It depends on how you look at positions. I know I would never want Marvin Williams to be my power forward. Harrington can play it but his natural skill is at small forward, considering he is mostly on the perimeter. Childress and Smith are definite small forwards. Joe Johnson can play both wing positions. I just dont see any balance on that team.

The Atlanta Hawks are in so much disarray right now because they don't have impact performers at those positions.
Joe Johnson maybe the only one, but by no stretch of the imagination should he be a superstar.

There are huge holes at SF (unless you put Johnson there), PF, PG and C. But it's PG and C that is hurting the Hawks so much. They have no one to lead them on the court and Zaza has not developed as they have planned.

But all the names mention so far should be back ups. Perhaps if they move their combo guards and combo forwards for a more true SF or true PF, then they might turn a corner.
