NOTE FROM THE FORUM OWNER:

We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. You can also visit the original MagicMadness Forum at http://orlandomagic.proboards.com.

Special thanks to our Staff Members: Black and Blue, MAGICMANEVAN, and NYCMagicFan!

Smith said he "went back and forth" on whether to obtain players or expiring contracts for Francis. New York also was offering Jamal Crawford and Maurice Taylor, but the Magic declined that deal because of the money still owed to those two players.

Said Smith: "Were there players out there who we could have taken back for Steve? There was one or two, but would they have made us any more than one, two or three games better?

"From our perspective it wouldn't have made us that much better, and getting more flexibility cap-wise was a much better direction to go."

Otis Smith is suddenly a genius!!!

Dave Twardzik on the other hand.....

I cant paste the link, but the New York Post reported we tried to move Garrity and the rights to Fran Vasquez's. THERE is our indication that the GMs have given up on Fran.

What the heck is going on? Suddenly we have a competent GM!

Two very good trade moves in a row, very impressive.

I think Otis took over the GM spot and our team has been doing great. The Magic should just name him GM as he already is handling almost all of the job.

No, Otis didn't completely take over the GM spot, he's just the face of our GM team. He's the one that's working with our talent while Dave is doing all the behind the scenes stuff, like making sure Otis's decisions make financial sense and stuff like that.

If they continue to work this well together, they might start a Co-GM movement in sports. I think that the simple fact that Otis only worries about the talent is the reason he was able to pull off these trades.

I have said the same thing on my post on another thread. I really think we should just give the GM job to Otis. Dave Twardzik should only be an assitant and should not be involve in any future scouting and decision in picking up for us in the draft.

since this is a thread about trades:

The Cavaliers reportedly inquired about Magic guard Keyon Dooling. However, after sending Steve Francis to the Knicks, Orlando probably wanted to keep Dooling.

I bet the Cavs wanted to give us garbage in return. Dooling is doing well for us lately.
