I guess you have to hit bottom before you can climb back up. I have never seen Darko not be able to get in a game when the team was able to dress only nine players. Coach would rather play with eight than nine.

The longer coaches continue to beat his confidence level down, the longer it will take to get it back up. Same as in Detroit, you cannot earn minutes nailed to the bench.

But at least Carlos was able to contribute. That's something.

Nobody knows whats going on, stop jumping to conclusions without knowing the facts. It's the second freaking game damn.

Yep if Darko doesn't at least get 15 minutes (in shape or not, know the plays or not), Hill should be fired on the spot.

Still very pleased with the effort tonight. It looks like we really might have got addition by subtraction today.

You people are so impatient!!! everyone is screaming to fire B Hill b/c he hasn't played an unproven player yet, You would think he was benching MJ or something.

Give us one reason why he shouldn't be playing? 15 minutes isn't a ton of time.

unless darko was sick or injured last night, i really dont see any reason why he couldnt play atleast 10 min. coaches and gms sometimes have different points of view when it comes to rebuilding a team. the gms bring in young players and expect to lose at first but know that they wont lose their jobs because they are obviously building toward the future. coaches on the other hand, try to win every game and sometimes get too infatuated with winning and not losing their jobs, that they dont realize that their first priority is to develop the young players.

They traded Francis just in time for the game against NJ. The game Black and Blue would be watching live. It's not secret how Black and Blue loathed Francis.

Hmmm...you must have friends in high places Black and Blue!

Enjoy the game bud! It's probably another loss, but its Francis-free.

  I just read this. Thanks man! Youre hilarious.

Hill2Howard: You are probably right. I may have overreacted. I am so used to hearing coaches say one thing and 2 and a half years later, still backing down. I heard Hill say that Darko was going to have to get in there last night and then played with only 8 guys avoiding putting Darko in. It just seemed to me that a different look on defense might have really helped and the Nets having to guard another guy might have made a difference.

I will back off and be pleasantly surprised in the future, rather than expecting things and, as you say, not knowing all the facts. You need to put young players in, sometimes, in situations where they can succeed and this was probably just not the right time.

Hope it comes soon, though.

Someone needs to grab Hill by the throat and tell him TO PUT DARKO IN FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

I was saying the same thing when I was there.

And I agree, I wanted him in the game too. We just got a little harsh there for a minute. Maybe coach hill has some plays he wants to run for darko and needs practice to make sure darko has a grasp. IMO, Hill is probablly under alot of pressure to not make this kid look bad in his debut on Friday. I could see that happening since the kid has been through some tough times in Detroit. I thought at first that Hill should just throw him in there. but that wouldn't be fair to Darko , since he's never played much with the players on the team other that Carlos, and he's a guy that's trying to prove the doubters wrong, andshow them that he can play.

- I am getting tired of Dwight just staring at players about to dunk it. At least try to block it. He must be afraid of getting put on a poster or something. His offense looked good but damn he has got to get a killer instinct on the defensive end.

- Stevensons mid-range shot is pretty deadly. And his defense is good. He just needs to get that knee fixed, but I guess he really wants to wait until the offseason.

I totally saw this at the game too. It was sadly very obvious. More than twice a person drove and Dwight just watched them execute a layup next to him.

Stevenson kept shooting from this one spot during warmups. Over and over and over. Cue the game, he drills like 3 shots from the exact spot. Practice counts boys and girls.

Give us one reason why he shouldn't be playing? 15 minutes isn't a ton of time.

For all my fellow Darko Demons who, like me, couldn't wait to have him in the game:

I honestly think Hill didnt play him tonight because

a) He wanted his reliable starters to pull out a win to make the team realize they could win without Francis. I feel this was very important, and throwing an uncertain Darko out there wouldn't have accomplished that as well.

b) He wanted to showcase the rest of the players for trades possibly.

c) Darko was sitting THE ENTIRE TIME with a pose that resembled that statue "The thinker". When he wasnt doing that, he was laughing and not really paying attention during timeouts. His body language showed me that Hill must have told him for whatever reason that he had to sit this one out.

d) We were very close against a great team this whole time. Although I wanted Darko, there was never a solid moment when I thought it would be safe to put him in.

e) Kasun was having a career game, and like Hill I got very intrigued to see how good he could do while he was 'on'. Darko is definitely sold as a part of our future, but Kasun is not. Tonight Kasun played so well my friend said "Damn, that ugly white guy is great. Who is he?"

There were a bunch of reasons in this particular game. The next game should be different. If it isn't I will be pissed! :)

I hear a lot of frustration already about Darko not playing. Trust me, I know how that feels. As a Pistons fan, I have been waiting a long long time for Darko to get a shot that simply never happened. So I plan to root for Darko, Arroyo, and Orlando from now on unless they are playing the Pistons of course.

^^

look at this post-game quote from richard jefferson:
Quote:

On the game: “They were just out there playing hard. It’s a tough situation. We’ve been in that situation before after making a trade. Some guys don’t know the players, some are gone, and the roster is shortened. Stacey Augmon played a bunch of minutes and this was a guy that was on the inactive list a little while ago. It’s just guys out there playing hard, having fun, and there’s no pressure on them. Like I said before, if they [The Magic] go out there and lose by 20, it’s not like anyone would’ve been surprised.”
