the amount of steals you avg doesnt make you a good defender. Staying in front of your man, keeping the ball out of the best players hands , and stopping him from scoring are signs of a good defender. Someone else can slap the ball away, but it's who picks it up that gets a steal. Not the guy who knocks it out of the offensive players hands.

Dude, 33% from 3pt land is awful, especially for a guy that doesn't take many three's.

33% isn't terrible, 33% is pretty avg. You act as if Travis Diener plays better D than Francis. And when you talk about peoples height and how he can just shoot in his eye.......people can jump in the NBA. Also A.I. guards Kobe from time to time, and I saw him guarding other people before that weren't only 5 foot midgets. Steve Francis isn't defensive player of the year but he isn't a chump either. Either you must be picking your nose too hard or your just not watching the NBA because I know for dang sure that Francis stays infront of his man unlike Travis Diener who just runs away to help in the key sometimes for no reason.

Guess there is no such thing as a good defender when your going agains't the Lakers or 76ers, or any team for that matter since your best player could be anyone on the field with the hot hand.

*ahem* like I said before.

Anyway my opinion of a good defender is staying infront of your man, stealing the ball, harassing the ball handler, and getting a hand in his face is a good defender. People like Travis Diener, Pat Garrity, Kyle Korver, and etc. are terrible defenders since they do practically nothing to the ball handler. The most those named do is stay infront of the guy. I have seen Francis harassing, stripping, and staying in front of his defender on multiple occasions. As for his 3% being 33 If you haven't noticed thats good, considering Q-Rich has alot in the 32-38% range. Oh and whats this? Dirk Nowitzki look at those 3% stats! :O

Also the amt. of steals you have per game does hint that your a good defender because you have a nose for the ball, and means that you can steal, because we know A.I.'s 2 SPG is nothing to worry about because its all steals that were picked up from Samuel Dalembert's defensive presence outside.

Steals doesnt really mean your a good defender. Players can get a couple of steals in the game but still allow the player to get 40 points.

Sigh...Yet another victim of my vast knowledge.

If you stop talking out you a** and think for once.

Dirk is, for example, 73-175 from 3pt range, Steve is 18-70 from 3pt range and is shooting at a lower percentage than a guy that takes more 3pt shots per game. Dirk is shooting at a good percentage for how many shots he takes.

I know your probablly like  but trust me the rest of the planet understands :haha:

Your argument is weak. time to time? WTF? Yeah that proves your point. Just top please.

First of all didn't I say Francis was in a slump?........18-70 is terrible and I agree but since he is in such a slump I went with his percentages when looked at before this year are very decent. The slump he is in is making his numbers look like rookie stats compared to his others.

A.I. was the SG before Iguodala and he guarded Kobe, Pierce, and others from time to time, sometimes needing help. Does that make A.I. a bad defender? No. Everyone in the NBA needs help guarding the good player on the field, thats why there are things such as double teams and when men pick up.

My definition of D is not just steal the ball constantly if you had read what I posted. If thats the definition of D then hey I guess Kasun the fouling machine is an All-Star defender slapping everyone for the block, steal, etc. Its a small part of being a good defender. Obviously if you've seen A.I. guard someone you'd know that he harasses the hell outta the ball handler and pokes the ball out of their hand from time to time. Thats a good defender. Steve Francis did that all the time before his bad year(2005-2006). The only reason you guys think Stevie is a chump is because your looking at him THIS year and not his whole career. I mean WTF..... If you people do that then you might as well call MJ a chump since he did terrible on the Wizards compared to his Bulls days.

Want me to explain what my "vomit" means? You said

Which is impossible considering that if the person your already guarding is undoubtedly going to get the ball and score if he is that good in the first place. Even when the best defenders in the NBA guard Kobe or A.I. they still light up the scorecard with like 30 points. Stopping the scorer from scoring is also pretty hard for another SG since you would need to DT him or block him alot which would be the job of the C or PF.

I didn't say stealing alone stopped the scorer......

Also H2H like I've said before your obviously looking at his 2005-2006 stats because you keep saying and thinking he can't shoot when his career 3pt is 522-1,543, which isn't that bad. His FG is 3,297-7,671, which again isn't that bad. Obviously you never watched Francis play until this year or you just look at stats. Even last year with the Magic he was doing REALLY good getting close to a career high PPG, and getting a career high APG and FT%.

Don't trade Francis.... we won't get much in return. "buy low, sell high" strategy. Francis is much better compared to the players they're offering. Just trade Jameer while his stocks are high. We will defenitely get someone decent in return for his value.

it's 32% from the arc.

He tied his career high 21 ppg LAST YEAR, this year it's 16 ppg

This is the 05-06 season you moron. Your fighting a losing battle.
