Ron Artest asks for a trade and the team is responding to his request.
The question is would the Magic consider pursuing him? Would you want him in a magic uniform?

Wow, I thought I created a Ron Artest thread 2 hours ago, but my computer I guess rejected it! Hahah.

I would love to have him. No joke

I personally would say yes, hes good defensively and could bring us some good numbers offensively. Also he could bring this team so attention to the media .. mabye even give the team a boost as well as make other teams realize we are no fluke, especially when Grant comes back... Imagine that... Artest, Francis, Hill, Howard.... could have a better chance for post season ambitions!

Artest would be good addition to any team (except Detroil ), basketball-wise. But I am not sure our goody-goody management team would consider trading for him.

Besides, how long do you think it would take for him to become a distraction to his new team?

a team should only get him as a one year stint to run after a title, any longer and he kills your organization...its already happened to my eagles and I really doubt dumb and dumber are stupid enough to trade for him

REAL SPORTS on HBO did a feature on him, he stated that he will be done with basketball in two years or this year if the Pacers win the Championship. He still wants to be Rapper/Promoter.

Bringing Artest here would be a bad idea, IMO. You can't really look past the mental problems and focus solely on the talent in this case. Artest might provide some wins right away, but he has proven himself to be a major distraction to his respective ballclubs over time.

I couldn't even begin to imagine what type of toll Artest's fragile psyche would take on the young, impressionable Dwight Howard.

Another reason the Magic shouldn't pursue him: In the IndyStar article, he mentions that he wants to play for the Knicks or the Cavs. He even says that if he goes to another team besides those two (he says a west coast team - but I'm pretty certain he means any team), he'll try to leave and sign with the Knicks or Cavs after his initial contract expires.

He wants his offense to shine more...so he can get a bigger contract. He's all about money and himself, two things this team (or any team for that matter) could do without.

Now that Indiana forward Ron Artest apparently is on the trading block, the Magic will explore it, although they have issues with his character.

While the Pacers likely won't trade him to an Eastern Conference team, forward Hedo Turkoglu's $6-million salary matches up with Artest's.

I would possibly trade Hedo for him, but that's about it (obviously not an equal deal talent-wise, but Indiana wants to trade him). The problem with Artest is that he won't really want to play for us anyways, and once his contract runs out he'll just sign with another team. I just have a feeling if we signed him he'd end up taking us to the playoffs once or twice, but in the long run cause more bad than good.

Although theres no denying his basketball talents, I dont think he would be good for Dwight.
