We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. we are definitely not the biggest joke in the NBA, but I can see where other ppl would seem to think so for an analogy I guess we would be the St. Louis Rams (this year) of the NBA, we're a dysfunctional organization that makes a bunch of weird decisions (like having a hockey guy as a GM) and run into odd luck (Grant Hill, knock on wood) but somehow still manages to be a middle of the pack team |

Id agree with that analogy... its a very good assessment. We aren't horrible, we're like many other teams, just trying to get over the hump. |

A lot of people already said it, but until the Clippers win a playoff series or even change their ugly cheap logo, they will be the dirt bottom of the respect ladder. Traditionally, we have a better rep than several teams, who are synonymous with being a joke. For example: -Da Clips -Atlanta Hawks (this will change soon) -Golden State Warriors (Have been pathetic since Mullin was there, fruity logo and colors) -New Orleans Hornets (ridiculous looking team that cant buy a fanbase) -Memphis Grizzlies (see Hornets notes) -The Knicks (anyone on the bandwagon anymore? Isiah has run this team into the ground. This will also change under Brown.) I would argue that we have more respect in the league right now than any of these teams. I agree that the fans care more about the Vazquez thing than anyone, and it truly isn't as bad as it seems. We still have a young phenom or two to build our future around and our salary cap situation makes us one of the teams with the brightest futures. Watch, if we sign some big names when we have money, it'll be amazing how many people pop on the bandwagon. You'll hear a lot of "Oh I used to like them during the Penny-Shaq days. Im just returning to my roots." Go Magic! |

McGrady and Howard... What could have been

Well Now Some of those teams have made Progress Golden State... Grizziles(Took a Step Back to Rebuild), Hawks....(Made Great Signnings with JJ and Williams, and Probably Getting Tyson Chandler or Eddie Curry)..... Clips...(will Probably Make the Playoffs when they are healthy) We on the Other hand havent changed If you look over the last years after shaq... We have Made it to the Playoffs... NEVER Had past the first round...... When we have Ben Wallace (Which we should have Kept) you trade him away.. And wins a Championship.... and get rid of Chauncy Billups(Wins a Championship)... But he you cant blame the Magic..... Trade McGrady (who will win a championship soon)... Who made fans come over to the TD water house center.... so 7 Straight Years going to the Playoffs is a Acomplishment.... yes it is... But Getting kicked out in the first round isnt good...... Trade the Only Thing that Made fans come to the game... and now you get a Franchise that cant get fans to come... The only person that makes People come is Grant Hill...(Because of his comeback) If it wasnt for him coming back... we would have a top 3 draft Pick..... Yes I would like to think that we are making progress... But we have been saying that since shaq left... and that isnt good enough for the orlando magic Fan Thats Just saying that we are waiting 10 to 11 years to make another Championship run..... But our Team wont even past the first round if we make the playoffs this year..... You know what teams we are facingNets, Miami, Pacers, Detroit, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Philidelphia, Washington....... Lets face it... We arent going to pass the First round  |

I agree that many of those teams have made significant accomplishments this offseason, but they still have a lot to prove, and going into this season I think we still will be cued in by sportscasters without a chuckle (unlike the Clips and Warriors). I HOPE we are still taken seriously. |

I dont think anyone will take us seriously.... When we traded T-Mac... Everyone was just making fun of us... Now he cant get Fran Vasquez on the Team... We are going to get laughed at more <_< I think we will do better... But will not make it past the first round... I seriously doubt it <_< |

I'd rather be mediocre and have gone to the playoffs and got kicked in the first round than suck that whole time and now start to possibly move toward mediocrity (i.e. Atlanta, etc). We, also, are improving. Can you honestly tell me Magic333, that the team we have now is not an improvement from the team we had two years ago. Let me refresh your memory...Pat Burke was starting on OPENING DAY. Jeryl Sasser, Olumide Oyedeji, Chris Whitney, and the gigantic Shawn Kemp all got signigicant playing time for us. I'd say we are a vastly improved team, as much if not more than the teams you have listed. We aren't that bad. No offense, but your argument isn't really going anywhere.

Yeah...just knowing the fact that we have a probable starting lineup of Francis/Dooling/Hill/Howard/Cato, with a bench including Nelson and Turkoglu, should prove that we are a much better looking team (on paper, at least) than we were two years ago. Other teams are making progress, but they're having their setbacks just like us. Yeah, we traded Mobley, and yeah, Vazquez won't be playing for us, but you have to think about all the bad moves other teams have made in the same time period. |

Well.... Our Team has been same way for years.... I cant understand why we cant go further in the playoffs..... But this year was going to be a good year for the Magic... But then ''The Big 4'' Will rule the east until 2-3 years down the road.... We cant wait that long to win....... It just gets me mad when GM's just do the Wrong thing... Every single time.... They always Screw the Magic :@ I am not mad and the Team... i am just mad at the Management :@ .... And it might be another time until the Management to screw-up

I feel you man. As Bianchi has so eloquently pointed out, aside from luck, the Magic management has not really given us fans enough reason to trust them. But we are still middle-of-the-pack team. Our management is a joke, but somehow, we have a pretty decent team still , far from being the "biggest joke"- we have luck to thank for that. |

What a funny thread. Just makes me laugh at magic fans, most of them I should say not all of them. We had a terrible season right? Oh, what some teams would give to have 36 wins be a "terrible" season. A small improvement, thats right, a SMALL one in Dwight Howard would get us to the 40 win mark. The injuries last season. I know people dont like to here it, but I am not saying we would have made the playoffs had their been no injuries. I am saying we would have won more games had everyone been healthy. We added Dooling who at least is a good defensive guard. We added Diener who is pass first. Not major improvements, but the core of the team is intact and that is much better then having one of our drastic makeovers like we have for so many seasons. But fans still want all these changes, even reccomending absolutely terrible moves that make our GMs look like the best in the business. How anyone says we will be worse is beyond me? And how we are the biggest joke in the league is absolutely absurd. Stop overreacting for once. |

Bingo! The overreacting around here is about enough to make me stop coming here until the season starts. I don't know why some people think Fran was going to be the best player on this team next year anyways. |
