Game 6! Spurs should finish the Pistons now - I hope they are not a little too high on the Game 5 win to get it done. |

PISTONS 95 - SPURS 86 Series: Pistons 3 - Spurs 3 Game 6 Recap:
http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/363...o_defend_title/ I really didn't expect Detroit to win tonight. Still, considering they're playing a team that was so great at home all year, I expect the Spurs to win game 7. What a great series this has been so far. |

Timmy wining the MVP is crap to me.. His team had to carry his ass too much in the finals.. Manu should have won MVP, but that's how it works in the NBA.. the biggest star always wins MVP in the finals, even if he CHOKES in a few of the games.. Dont get me wrong I really like the Spurs, they are a classy team (MINUS BOWEN) and do things the "RIGHT WAY", but I dont think that Tim should be the MVP or have talks about being the "BEST PF EVER" he has yet to carry a team on his back for years on end, could he be the best ever SURE.. but lets hold off till he has been out of the NBA for a few years to give him that mark.. For now Karl Malone is still the all time great.. even though he is my MOST hated player ever... |

I agree. While Malone never did win a title, I feel like he was a better PF overall than Duncan and was more of a powerful team leader. Don't get me wrong though, Duncan has been one of the greats for awhile now. But I think he sometimes gets a bit overhyped as "the best PF ever" and I don't think he deserves that title just yet. |

I have to disagree with you on this one. I watched most of the games in the Finals, (except Game 6) and I agree that TD struggled, but he still deserves the Finals MVP. If it wasn't for his 2nd half play, Detroit will be the ones celebrating right now. Granted that Manu made some plays, but it all starts with Duncan. Remove Duncan from that line-up and the Spurs will become the Lakers. It is his team, and everyone responds to him. He is the anchor of this team. * The key 3s of the Spurs came from Duncan's pass from double team. If you watched the game, you could see Detroit's players collapsing on him freeing up the Spurs perimeter players for open looks. Detroit's defense is focused on him during the Finals, allowing Manu and the rest to be able to drive and spot up. The inside-outside game that has been key to the Spurs starts with him. * On that decisive 4th quarter 14-4 run, 10 pts came from him. It was his plays, offensive rebounds, and diving for loose balls that got the momentum back to the Spurs (and the crowd back into the game). * He sucked in Game 5 and 6 at the FT, and in Game 7 he was 5 of 6. Now that is mental toughness for you. He is a bad FT shooter, but he rises up to the occasion. The opposite of Malone ( a good FT shooter, but chokes on pressure situations). He also missed 8 straight shots due to tough defense by Detroit's bigs and he still managed to come back and score 25. If that is not toughness, I don't know what is. *TD's struggles is not only because of his performance but also due to the really good defenders that Detroit is throwing at him. You got Ben and Rasheed tag team, and McDyess. All 3 of them are really good defenders and any mortal PF will have fits going up against them. The NBA Finals theme says "Where Legends are Born", and Tim Duncan has surely claimed his place. And I wouldn't be too surprised if they win it all again next year - they own the Western Conference......and the only thing that stands between them and the 2006 Finals trophy is the Orlando Magic .

All good points, but the underlining numbers tell the tale... 10 for 27 Shooting DAMN THAT"S BAD!! He had 5 Turnovers BY HIMSELF in this last game.. one less than ALL OF the Pistons Free throws.. I not even going to go there, we all know what Tim did on the line durring the finals.. You did see the cover of the sports page of USA Today right.. If you didnt this is what Tims Picture looked like.. ![]() Tim had to bank on his team bailing his ass out too many times, why does that get the MPV nod? I don’t consider him getting doubled reason to give him the MVP.. he only had 3 assists in the last game and 15 overall.. While Manu had 9 by himself in one game.. Plus Rasheed had how many blocks on Tims ass during the finals?? MVP, not in my book....the better player OVERALL was Manu.. |
