NOTE FROM THE FORUM OWNER:

We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. While the Magic do not know who their head coach will be, Weisbrod said disgruntled guard Doug Christie will be back next season. "I certainly plan on having him back," Weisbrod said.

Weisbrod flew to Christie's home in Seattle to meet with him last weekend.

Christie and his agent had said they felt Weisbrod did not defend them publicly after Christie ended his season early to seek medical opinions about his sore left ankle. He said at a news conference a few weeks ago that, "It would be difficult" for him to return to play in Orlando next season.

"Our meeting went great," Weisbrod said. "Doug gave me a follow-up call on Saturday to tell me how excited he was that I had made the trip. He said he was going to be 100 percent physically and emotionally in terms of coming back and contributing."
oh man, christie sucks. hopefully he can somehow contribute cause it looks like he is coming back. :@

As long as he doesn't mind not being a starter next season I wouldn't mind him coming back. <_<

Nice move by wise-brod to calm the waters. That contract expiring will help us a lot.

Yeah, the contract will be nice. I bet that's the main reason Weisbrod wants him back.

Oh yeah, if it wasn't for Christie's contract we wouldn't have traded Mobley for him in the first place.
JW would've been happy whether DC wished to play or not, because no way was JW gonna trade him just because Christie wanted him to.
But good to see Christie coming back.

Kinda sounds like the "He didn't even wish me happy birthday" thing. This handholding has to be driving JW mad.

Well, I guess a healthy christie is okay to keep. BUt more importantly, I would love that expiring contract of his to come off our books instead of someone elses. I doubt he starts, but definitely would provide defense off the bench, considering he is 100% healthy. I don't think it is a bad idea to keep him.

Yeah the magic need to draft another shooting guard or sign a better one in the offseason than christie with the mid exception veteran contract they give teams to use in free agency.
