We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. VS ![]() Miami Heat (58-23) at Orlando Magic (36-45) Game Info: 7:00 pm EDT Wed Apr 20, 2005 TV: SUNS, WRBW PROBABLE STARTERS: Heat - F Eddie Jones, F Udonis Haslem, C Alonzo Mourning, G Damon Jones, G Wade Magic - F DeShawn Stevenson, F Dwight Howard, C Tony Battie, G Francis, G Jameer Nelson INJURIES: Heat - C O'Neal (thigh); G-F Qyntel Woods (ankle); C ZhiZhi Wang (back); G-F Dorell Wright (knee) Magic - F Grant Hill (shin); F Hedo Turkoglu (wrist); G Doug Christie (ankle); C Andrew DeClercq (knee). The Orlando Magic squandered any hopes they had of reaching the postseason during a seven-game losing streak in April. That doesn't mean they're content to go into the offseason without a few victories to build on. They'll try to close the campaign on a two-game winning streak as they host the Eastern Conference-leading Miami Heat in the regular season finale for both teams. Orlando, which lost All-Star forward Grant Hill to a season-ending shin injury earlier this month, dropped seven straight from April 5-16, ending any hopes that it would be able to pull out the eighth and final playoff spot in the East. However, the Magic ended the disastrous skid Monday, rallying for a 92-88 win over playoff-bound Indiana. Steve Francis scored 24 points, including a clutch jumper with 10 seconds left, to give Orlando its first win since a 103-102 triumph at New Jersey on April 2 - a victory that left the Magic just one game out of eighth place. "We don't want to leave on a bad note," said Francis after Monday's win. "Despite not making the playoffs, I think the players and organization wanted to go out with a victory." Interim coach Chris Jent, who has led the Magic to a 5-12 mark since the firing of Johnny Davis, was also pleased with his team's resiliency. "We felt we were a better team than our record and it really shows the spirit and camaraderie that these guys have to step up and play that hard in a game like this," he said. The Heat are just hoping Shaquille O'Neal is healthy enough to lead them on a long playoff run. Miami continued tuning up for the postseason with a 99-80 rout of expansion Charlotte on Tuesday, but O'Neal sat out his fourth game in the last seven with a bruised right thigh. The All-Star center and MVP candidate is expected to be ready to go for the Heat's playoff opener, but Miami isn't taking any chances, placing O'Neal on the injured list for its last two games. "We know what he's going to do when playoff time comes," Heat guard Dwyane Wade said. "He's going to be the Shaq no one in Miami has seen yet. We're not worried about that at all." |

Tonight we play for nothing but pride, a 2-game winstreak to end the season (just like last season WITHOUT T-MAC), and to make things up to the fans for the bad season. IMO, it's #3 vs. #3, Franchise vs. Flash, Steve Francis vs. Dwayne Wade. B) Tonight should be something special to watch as the winner of this game will have some bragging rights as there's no Shaq tonight, so both teams have good chances to win (Miami a better chance of course, but it's more evened up). Chris Jent is coaching what might be his last game as Magic Head Coach, so let's hope the guys win this one for him, and themselves more importantly. D-Flight will end the season starting in all 82 games. He only needs 3 rebounds tonight to guarantee himself a double-double average for the year and a small shot at Rookie of the Year. B) Tonight, the Magic's 16th season of this franchise will come to a close. |

Good time for the Heat to play their bench before the playoffs start.. look for tons of mins off the pine tonight from Stan, but if hs's like his big Bro he'll play to win in the end.... I think Steve will bring in his A game, he always does at the end of the season and gives it his all even if it's the last game.. I have no idea how this one will come out... |

Nice...Magic up by 5 right now towards the end of the third. I don't care if the "real" Heat aren't out there, I just want to see us take a 2-game winning streak into the summer. Lets win this one! |

There is nothing much to say about this season. I'm just relieved its finally over. We were in a roller coaster ride that had most of the ups earlier in the season and it just went downhill after the half. But I have to say I am excited about next season. We have a nice core of players. We need to add quality players here and there, and a good coach to put it all together. It was not as good as season we expected, but it it could have been worst. ![]() |

I'm really ticked off that we lost this game. We were winning for the most part, yet we found a way to let a Shaq/Wade-less Miami team beat us in the end. I was really hoping for a nice 2-game winning streak to finish the season, but now we end with a loss. :S |
