We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. We have all forgotten how it feels. I wasn't even expecting us to win until next season. It feels good. Maybe we can do it again against Miami. |

Chris Jent's Post-Game Quotes April 18, 2005 Orlando Magic 92 Indiana Pacers 88 Chris Jent: On snapping the losing streak: "It felt great. It was deserving for the fans to have us come out here and really represent the franchise in the right way. To play a team game at both ends, I thought we did that tonight." On Steve Francis hitting a jumper with 10.4 seconds remaining in the game: "They were trapping pick-n-roll so I figured it would complicate things by bringing a screen into the play. He had a lot of pop in his legs tonight and I figured he would knock down that shot like he normally does and it was a huge one for us." On Orlando's defense in the second half: What we were doing was getting to help areas quickly, getting there early, and making them make the extra pass. When you do that sometimes you get burnt from the perimeter but I'd rather have that happen than them get dunks and second shots and things like that. So we really protected the rim well in second half, actually the whole game. They had talked about the fact that on that play that we were running normally teams help from the second screener but they were helping from the first screener which was Dwight's (Howard) man. So we just threw it back to the guy who was in the corner, actually it was for Dwight, to get a roll to the basket and an easy basket. It was a good little job by Tony stepping into the open area and knocking down a big jumper for us." On not quitting and having something to prove: "We're very disappointed even with the injuries we've had that the season finished, up until tonight, mapped out the way it did. We felt we were a better team than our record and it really showed the spirit and the camaraderie that these guys have for each other to step up and play that hard in a game like this." On Reggie Miller almost stealing the ball at the end of the fourth quarter: "That was a close one. He (Reggie Miller) did foul him (Tony Battie), I thought he fouled him but you never know in that situation. You've got to make sure it's a good strong pass and you know the guy catching the ball is going to foul you as soon as you catch the ball. Thank goodness it mapped out the way it did because we needed those free throws." |
