Orlando Magic forward Pat Garrity was diagnosed as having a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee today and will miss the remaining three games of the season.

After surgery, Garrity will have a three- to four-month rehabilitation period. Training camp opens in early October.

The injury was revealed after Garrity underwent a magnetic resonance imaging in Milwaukee.

Garrity's career might be in jeopardy.

He had microfracture surgery on the same knee last summer.

Garrity played in just two games because of the injury last season. He came back to play in 71 games this season, averaging 4.6 points.

He was injured Friday night in Chicago when he became entangled with some Bulls players.

Garrity, 28, a seven-year pro, is the fifth Magic player in the past four weeks to sustain a season-ending injury. Andrew DeClercq had right knee surgery, Doug Christie had surgery on his left ankle to remove bone spurs, Grant Hill has a sore left shin and Hedo Turkoglu has a fractured left wrist).

"The MASH unit continues,'' Magic General Manager John Weisbrod said. "I'm a little numbed to it at this point. Pat going down just adds insult to injury. I guess this is a pretty good indication it wasn't meant to be."

that is too bad i like garrity. Our team just wasnt geared toward him this year and he never got in a rhythm. He really was solid when he was with tmac. he was able to get good looks off the tmac double teams. If he is around when howard gets that double he could be good again.

garrity blows anyways...hes sucked for 2 years now and its time to bring in Salim Stoudamire w/ our draft pick...he is a pure shooter w/ some ability to drive into the lane, kinda like cat except a little shorter and a better shot

that is bad. so that means now it will be close to impossible to involve him in a trade this summer.

i feel bad for garrity though. he is a class act.

I totally agree. I noticed that Steve Francis didnt look for Garrity as much as Tmac did. Nelson looked for Garrity more, but still not as much as McGrady would.

NYC-I'm glad someone doesnt completely hate him and badmouth him after he gave us some good seasons. he was huge for us in those 3 playoff seasons with tmac. he is still a real solid guy no matter what he does on the court

People can talk bad about him, but he did out produce Penny in that Phoenix trade many moons ago :) Who would have thought that at the time?

Microfracture surgery, that sums it up for me.He'll probably never be the same player he ever was again.Tony Brackens a former jags DE had the same exact type of surgery, and it basically looks like his career is over cause he hasn't been picked up by another team since the beginning of last season.

You seem to be forgetting before those 2 years, when he was given enough playing time to really get into a rhythm. He was among the league-leaders in 3-point FG's and percentage. Plus in the time he was able to play, he didn't suck.

Also, tell me how you figure it's been 2 years? He was injured last year!

I hope Pat will be ok, and that whatever new coach we get next year will give him a chance to get back into his normal shooting feel. That is, if we re-sign him. :/

Garity sux ass. His ONLY job is to shoot 3 pointers. You would think if thats your only job and your getting millions of dollars a year, he would be hitting every shot he takes. He cant dribble to save his life, and he a major liability on Defense.

Trade him please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Garrity doesn't suck, he's a niche 3-point shooter and a pretty good one at that. Last season he didn't play because of injury, and this was his first season back, along with it being a whole different team.

Garrity gets bad-mouthed a lot these days, and its pretty sad considering all the good things he did before this season. I mean come on, he's had one of the longest careers as a Magic man of all time...

Trade him please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Name a GM on his right mind that will trade for him now?

Just let Garrity retire as a Magic and that will free up cap space for next season.

lol the dolphins  ...haha its cool one of my friends was talking crap before last season started about how the dolphins were gonna kick so much ass and the the jaguars weren't s**t, but the fins are gonna get better cause I think Saban is gonna really tighten the reigns down there but the only problem is the he is a conservative coach on offense ala Dave all I do is run Ricky Williams in the ground and never heard of running a pass play in my life Wandstedt. The pieces are there, just need a good QB (my eagles pulled a robbery in the fins w/ feeley) and a workhorse RB and open up the offense a little bit to give that defense a rest.

I don't think Garrity is done just yet...I mean he's only 28 years old.
