Orlando Magic guard Doug Christie won't ask to be traded publicly, but it sure sounds like he wants to be.

Even though he has another year left on his contract -- paying him $8.2 million -- Christie and agent Bradley Marshall expressed serious reservations Wednesday about the guard returning to Orlando next season.

Christie came to the Magic on Jan. 10 from the Sacramento Kings in a trade for guard Cuttino Mobley and forward Michael Bradley, but he went on the injured list March 5, effectively ending his season. He had surgery last week to remove bone spurs in his left ankle.

"I'm going to be 100 percent by next season. But to come back and play under the circumstances I've been put through [in Orlando] would be very difficult," Christie said in an interview with WFTV-Channel 9, the ABC affiliate in Orlando. "The situation doesn't fit the type of person I am."

..................

"It's ridiculous that the organization could stand by and let people [in the media] attack my integrity," Christie said. "This is the team that traded for me but showed very little commitment toward me."

Weisbrod was surprised Wednesday when informed of Christie's remarks. He previously had defended Christie's decision to go elsewhere to get medical opinions, giving him permission to leave the team.

"I've never been close to uttering a disparaging word about him. The organization has done nothing but defend him," Weisbrod said. "So I have no intention of trading him or buying him out. He's making his own bed, and he's going to have to come back and lie in it, so the sooner he takes a constructive mind-set, the better."

"Doug's unhappiness is real," said Marshall. "We're not going to ask for a trade. That's not our role. I just question whether it is a good fit for the team to have this player."

Christie has been in the NBA for 13 seasons, carving a reputation as an outstanding defensive player who is unselfish offensively. But even before this season began, it was obvious that he was no longer quite the defensive stopper he once was.

Frankly, I could care less. I never wanted Christie here in the first place, and while I will praise his loyalty to Sacramento (you rarely see team loyalty these days), it was just never a good fit for him here from the get go.

Go to HELL, Drex (you're wearing red already, why not go the extra yard). JW won't get fired and doesn't deserve to even be considered to lose his job.
I swear I want to cut off Doug Christie's hands for the sh*t he's been saying. If anyone wants this guy (for salary reasons of course) than I'm all ears for trades.
What kind of guy says "the organization blows!" :@ :@ :@

I will admit, Weisbrod acted like Christie was this great player, and now, with him injured, Weisbrod has turned his back on him.

Are you kidding me? This is in no way Weisbrods fault, that is plain ludicrous. I love how it gets spun into being Weisbrods problem. Please, Christie is a no good, whining pansy ass b**ch who should be on the next train out. Weisbrod cut the guy slack, did nothing but support the guy, and pansy ass b**ch guy calls out management. Christie wants nothing more then to be traded, but he is "too good" to demand a trade, so he blames management to make himself look better, while basically guaranteeing him a trade out of here. The guy is garbage.

I couldnt agree more!
Fact is that Christie repeatedly says he hates the way the organization has treated him, yet beyond that is Mr. Vague. He doesnt want to come out and say that it is plain to everyone in the NBA that his skills have diminished and is too big of a baby to have a diminished role.
He blames Orlando, but on any other team his play would have resulted in reduced playing time.

F that...I could'nt give 2 s**ts if he played next year or not but the dumbest thing weisbrod could do is trade him and lose that major cap space that will be freed up after next season...personally I say just throw his ass on IR for the whole season and reap the only benefits that will come via this cry baby pansy ass washed up b**ch

well he said this was for the future...JW just better stick by his hockey no nonsense from anybody attitude and not give into christies b**ching...if we trade him I'll be f'in pissed off because then we threw away this season for NO FUTURE BENEFITS AT ALL...he should be a f'in man and put christie on the injured list for the whole season and let his contract expire to get the cap space...we should be able to make the playoffs w/out his sorry ass anyways

Trading for Christie was a "failed experiment". I say we stop the finger pointing and just start figuring out what to do with him.

1) Trade him. For what? We maybe better off letting his contract expire next season.

2) Give him another go. If we cant trade him then let him sit on the bench and if he continues to whine to the IR list.

3)Ask the local TV to make a reality show about him and his family. Maybe that will stop all the whining or at least will make it an interesting show.

What a season we are having. We are turning into LA.
