Orlando Magic vs. Detroit Pistons

Posted Image vs. Posted Image

What: Regular Season Game #75
Where: TD Waterhouse Centre
When: April 8, 7:00 PM
Broadcast: TV -- ESPN/SunSports, Radio -- 580 AM (WDBO)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With Ben Wallace dominating the glass as well as using it to make 3-pointers, things are going well for the Detroit Pistons. Wallace and the Pistons seek a fifth straight victory as they visit the fading Orlando Magic.

A member of the NBA all-defensive team the past three seasons, Wallace had 21 points and 18 rebounds as the Pistons reduced their magic number for clinching the Central Division to four with a 105-93 victory over Washington on Wednesday night.

Wallace finished 8-of-13 from the floor and had a career-best 13-point first quarter, including a rare 3-pointer to beat the shot clock that give the Pistons a nine-point lead with 37 seconds left in the period.

``Everyone on the team has been telling me to shoot the ball more, so I figured they must know something,'' said Wallace, who's averaging 14.8 points in his last four games. ``They've been doing a great job of getting me the ball where I can do something with it instead of just being an emergency option.''

The 3-pointer, the fourth of Wallace's career, came on a 26-foot bank shot.

``I don't care what he says, he didn't mean to do that,'' Pistons guard Lindsey Hunter said of the ball going in off the backboard.

Chauncey Billups and reserve Antonio McDyess each had 19 points for Detroit, which shot just under 49 percent (40-of-82). Six Pistons scored in double figures.

The Magic have lost three of four and are 2 1/2 games behind the Philadelphia 76ers for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Steve Francis had 28 points and 11 assists, and rookie Jameer Nelson added 18 points and eight rebounds, but Orlando fell 102-101 in overtime to Chicago on Wednesday night.

Rookie Dwight Howard had 14 points, 15 rebounds and a season-high seven blocks for the Magic, who had a season-best 15 blocks but committed 22 turnovers.

``It may look bleak, but I've seen stranger things happen,'' Orlando coach Chris Jent said of his team's postseason chances. ``But we can't keep saying that.''

The Magic's fortunes hinge largely on the health of forward Grant Hill, who has missed the last three games with a sore left shin and won't play Friday. Hill is averaging 19.7 points in 67 games, the most he's played since appearing in 74 contests in 1999-00 -- his final season with the Pistons.

Plagued by ankle problems, the six-time All-Star was limited to 47 games over the previous three seasons.

i think jent should now create more plays for dwight so he would have a chance to win the rookie of the year award. since we probably wont get into the playoffs, why not invest on something else? if dwight gets ROTY, more ppl would see his potential and hopefully the magic would be given another chance and would stay in orlando!

I give us a chance because we are at home. If it was in Detroit I would say forget it!!! But I think we have some chance to win tonight. HAVE TO WIN tonight because we are already 2.5 out of #8 and 1.5 behind New Jersey.

Good luck with getting help tonight. The struggling Cavs are playing Philly IN Philly tonight.

Give the ball to Dwight!
Let's see some pick and rolls between Jameer and Dwight.
And also some alley-oops.

Time to develop the young ones!

Yes! I'll be able to watch the Magic since they're on ESPN.. so I'll be switching between that and the Yankee game.

if you think about it, we might be good either way in the cavs game because if they keep losing we could pass them alot easier than philly, but we would still have to catch the nets. I guarantee that if can get 41-41 that we will make the playoffs because 2 out of those 3 teams wont be .500, BUT i definitely dont guarantee that we win 41 games, so im not really guaranteeing anything

Man, barring a miracle we should lose tonight. I think around a 10 point loss sounds right. Regardless, GO MAGIC!

Posted ImageVs.Posted Image

Low Scoring afair between these two teams. But since Detriot is going to put in their bench player for the majority of the game. I say magic with a 7 point win

Magic 84 Pistons 79

Francis 25points 4rebounds 6assist
Billups 16 points 5rebounds 5assist
