We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. @ ![]() Orlando Magic (35-38) at Dallas Mavericks (49-24). Game Info: 8:30 pm EDT Tue Apr 5, 2005 TV: WRBW, FxSW PROBABLE STARTERS: Magic - F Dwight Howard, F Grant Hill or Stacey Augmon, C Tony Battie, G DeShawn Stevenson, G Steve Francis. Mavericks - F Nowitzki, F Josh Howard, C Shawn Bradley, G Michael Finley, G Jason Terry. INJURIES: Magic - F Grant Hill (shin); G Jameer Nelson (ribs); Andre Barrett (ankle); F Hedo Turkoglu (wrist); G Doug Christie (ankle); C Andrew DeClercq (knee). Mavericks - C Pavel Podkolzin (knee); C DJ Mbenga (hamstring); G-F Tariq Abdul-Wahad (knee). The Orlando Magic could again be without two key contributors as they continue to chase the last playoff berth in the Eastern Conference when they visit the Dallas Mavericks. Orlando won for the third time in four games Saturday, beating the New Jersey Nets 103-102 despite playing without forward Grant Hill and point guard Jameer Nelson. Hill missed the game with a bruised left shin, an injury that forced him to sit out three contests early last month, and Nelson missed his third straight game with a muscle tear around the rib cage. Both are game-time decisions for Orlando, which trails the Philadelphia 76ers by one game for the eighth and final playoff berth in the East. ``I'm hoping that everyone can go, but I really don't know for sure,'' Magic coach Chris Jent said. On Saturday, Steve Francis had 33 points, seven rebounds and five assists to lead the Magic, who also moved a half-game ahead of a Nets team which had won eight of 10. ``I still believe in our coach and what he's trying to do, and I believe in the players on this team regardless of who's injured, regardless of anything,'' Francis said. ``We have a lot of guys on this team that do things. It's not going to be just one guy carrying this team.'' The Magic beat the Mavs 94-84 in Orlando on Nov. 9, but they've lost six straight in Dallas since a 108-102 overtime win on Dec. 2, 1996. The Mavs are returning home after a four-game road trip, which began with three straight wins before a 100-80 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the finale on Sunday. Dirk Nowitzki scored 21 points and Jerry Stackhouse added 16. The loss ended the Mavs' four-game winning streak. ``This was a very disappointing game,'' Dallas coach Avery Johnson said. ``We'll go back and take a look at it, but we're playing some decent basketball. This was just a disappointing loss because these guys want to win so bad.'' Dallas' lead for fourth place and home-court advantage in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs remained at five games over the Sacramento Kings and 5 1/2 over the Houston Rockets. |

im a very optimistic fan but i really dont see how we can win this game. New Jersey was one thing and even that was a big surprise, but dallas has so much firepower. If barrett and nelson can play we might have a chance but if we win it has to be with sick defense and bad shooting by dallas. I can only see us scoring in the low 90s tonight at the most. The only scorer we will have is SF. We will need BIG games from our post guys, probably in the mid 40s between Dwight, Cato, and Batman. |

Update on the Injury Report from the Sentinel for tonight..... "Rookie point guard Jameer Nelson is hardly at full strength, but he is looking to play against the Mavs tonight. He practiced Monday for the first time since tearing a rib-cage muscle a week ago, wearing a padded vest to protect his chest area from contact while working out. Small forward Grant Hill did not practice with the club at Southern Methodist University and will sit out the game against Dallas (49-24)" |
