We had a long, enjoyable run, and I would like to thank every Orlando Magic fan who contributed to our small community on the web. This message board will be left online as an archive into the thoughts and minds of a group of Magic fanatics who lived through a 21-win season, the drafting of Dwight Howard, and an eventual NBA Finals appearance. You can also visit the original MagicMadness Forum at http://orlandomagic.proboards.com.

maybe cause he's like 84 yrs old?! his kids are supposed to be in charge now anyways, but they said in the sentinel today that the family is open to having a partner in owning the team...possibly the group headed by michael jordan is interested and Shaq after he retires. |

From what I have heard, Tiger Woods has a minor interest as well. |

Put together a winning team next year with Howard and Hill and whoever else and watch all these people jump on the Orena Bandwagon. Money silences all arguments of this type. |

it makes me sick to think about this trash. I live in Tampa and we have everything here except a basketball team. We do, however, have everything sports-related going for us. We have Raymond James stadium (home to the bucs, usf bulls, superbowls, major concerts, etc.), the st. pete times forum (formerly "ice palace," home to T.B. lightning, concerts, shows, etc.) and tropicana field (home to T.B. devil rays, concerts, shows, etc.). Let me tell you - it is a joy to be a resident of the tampa bay area. There are always major events going on, the hotels are always full, and we are raking in the tourist dough. I think eliminiating the only sports venue in the orlando area would be HORRIBLE for the city. Yes, o-town has the disney empire, but for everyone over the age of 8, it has nothing unique. It has resturaunts and hotels, yadda yadda yadda. So does every other big city. Sports and entertainment is what makes a city unique and without the Magic, orlando is another Birmingham-like city - a lot of people, but so what? If they do move, we always have UCF football...

Exactly. I hate baseball more than ever right now. And not from the steriods, it's all the media attention that gets on my nerves. It's the middle of NCAA and NBA basketball season and Sportscenter leads off with freaking baseball. I wish the season was already over. |

I agree. Orlando has the theme parks (Which I visit at least once every year), but really there is nothing else. The Magic need to stay in Orlando because the fan base is there and Orlando needs the Magic just as bad. Gosh it would be great to sneak into the playoffs this year. That might be one thing that puts us over the edge of staying in O-Town. |

Have You Hugged Your Van Gundy Today?

Wow, this is awful. Definitely the most disheartening thread on this board this season, and that is saying something given how this season has gone. Miracles do happen, just ask a Marlins fan who was ready to call them the Las Vegas Marlins, and hopefully it will for our Magic too. |

The marlins only smoked smoltz and the braves 9-0 yesterday.Grand slam by encarnacion was awesome. The marlins aren't going anywhere, they alreaady have 2 WS rings and have only been around since 93'.I think MIA already has a new stadium deal worked out. The magic are a whole different ordeal,it's BS though,u know the owner and the city should be able to work something out but obviously somebody in orlando doesn't give a sh*t if the magic leave or they are some really dumba*s arena negotiators.$$$$$$$ is the issue right now.Looks like the city doesn't want to dish some cash towards keeping the NBA in town.Hopefully Hill,Howard,Francis,Nelson, the Turk, and whoever else is on the roster next year can change their d*mn minds. Or I'll be waiting for about ten years for an expansion team to show up in Jacksonville. |

Which is a really long time,if the magic aren't in the NBA I won't even give a SH*T what happens in the league until the finals.which is what usually happens since the Magic haven't been to the finals since 95.I'm hopin' Howard can turn into a allstar next year and help this team get their.hill and francis do their thing out their, but if dwight starts kickin' a*s nightly next year, watch out.Almost forgot about the Turk and Nelson, and can stevenson keep up what he's doing.Next year could be good. The other role players on this team need to get better or ugraded though.Cato is good for D,i'm not too sold on the other big men.Barrett seems like a decent backup guard, don't know if he's in the magic's long term plans though. |
