Laugh all you want, but its the best thing to do right now with Turk out for the year. Augmon cannot replace Turks 14 points off the bench, so Nelson, Stevenson and Garritty will have to.

Having Augmon at starting SG for 15-20 mins, allows for a defensive start to each half, and allows 20-35 mins for a backup SG. If we continue to start Stevenson at the 2, our bench production is going to be worse than it already is. Hill is going to have to play more mins on some nights....Nelson will now be the leader off the bench....

Augmon started 23 games last year with the NO Hornets and avg. 20+ mins, hes still capable....this is exactly why he was signed-as insurance against an injury....I still believe, we can make the playoffs....

C- Cato-25, Battie-20, Hunter-3
PF- Howard-35, Garrity-10, Hunter-3
SF- Hill-36, Stevenson-12
SG- Augmon-18, Francis-18, Stevenson-12
PG- Francis-20, Nelson-28

DeShawn has been playing very well lately. I'm all for the idea of starting both Jameer and Steve. Augmon will get more playing time, but face it, he is just not a starter for this team.

Deshawn is younger too and more athletic, Stacey was good in his time but not now, I am sure with Jent, Stacey will find his minutes, he can still be productive but has to be ready to perform when his called upon.

Starting Augman would only retard the devlopment of younger talent. I would say that releasing Augman (and I don't endorse this) would be more benifical than starting him right now.

Give him a few minutes a game to spell others. Plan on looking elsewhere for vet leadership after the season.

augmon is 37,stevenson is almost 24,where do you see more potential.it's obvious plus the magic gave stevenson a decent contract which will mean he'll get the chance to see if he can earn it or be eventually released or traded.A lot is going to change on this roster once again in the offseason.Role players that is.everybody pretty much knows who the core is by now.

I hear you, and I also know that Augmon is 37 yrs old....but heres the thing....you can still have a 37 yr old start, play defense for 6 or so minutes and have a younger more athletic scorer replace him like Stevenson....otherwise you have a 37 yr old coming off the bench expected to score points.....

As a starter, Augmon wont need to be relied on to score points with Francis, Hill and D12 around him....otherwise what happens if Stevenson, Nelson, Hill or Francis pick up 2 early fouls? You expect Augmon to score 10-15 points off the bench, or this Mark Jones to suddenly provide points.....my idea is that by having Augmon start is not a liability on the starting 5, because hes surrounded by scorers....with him off the bench-its more of a concern....just my thoughts....

plasticman you're right, augmon is a (D) specialist, but not as much as a shut down performer as he once was b/c age obviously will decrease any player's attributes.plus u have to remember augmon only has a one year contract. Not a 3 year low multimillion dollar deal stevenson got. Those contracts play a large part in the amounts of pt players get.

True, but Augmon does have a 2nd year option as well (not that it matters).....at this point of the season and with the risk of not making the Playoffs, coach Jent has to go with whats going to work best, and for Orlando, having Stevenson and Nelson off the bench seems the most logical thing to do....both can score points in a hurry, and play more mins than Augmon....

Did you see Mutombos performance yesterday?....15 rebs, 8 pts....different position than Augmon but not bad for a 37 yr old....the old boys have still got game....and even if Augmon starts-he wouldnt play more than 20 mins anyway....
